Not Happy with rustproofing

Diamond Kote rustproofing guys clearly didn't take time to not get this stuff in places it shouldn't be...its all over the inside of the rims and won't come off with anything I've tried (wheel cleaner and tar remover). Theres also stuff on my black trim in various spots. what should i be doing? any suggestions on how to get this stuff off? or is it acceptable to bring this to the dealerships attention?

for sure I'd complain about it. let them fix it... you shouldn't have to fix these issues.

Honestly, I don't see why rust-proofing should be done to any modern-day car. Cars just don't rust like they used to. And even on cars that used to rust, I've never seen this rust-proofing material help much. Seems like far more of a mess than it's worth.

I'd definitely complain to your dealer if they were the ones who applied it. Completely unacceptable to have it all over the inside of your rims.

It that even rust? In all the posts on this board I've never seen anything like that on our rims. To me that looks more like something burnt-in.

No excuse for that other than shoddy workmanship and lack of pride in their business and product.

No, it's Rust PROOFING material that should not be there. Sloppy rust-proofing job by the dealer. Unacceptable.

This. And the OP probably PAID to have this done to his car. Just awful.

No need to rust proof an modern car. I would be screaming at the top of my lungs, they should fix it or give you a new set of rims. I have you contacted GM directly to voice your concern?

In your warranty booklet there is a paragraph titled "Aftermarket Rust Proofing" where it explains why it should not be done, and any problems it causes is not covered by warranty.

Plus there has been several bulletins on the issue saying not to add that crap. It's just a money grab at some extra profits. Kind of like the true coat paint sealant, super duper fabric protection, nitrogen tire air.... all dirt bag tactics to add more profit to the deal.

Show them your warranty book and make them give you your money back for selling you something GM said not to do.

Would you be happy if a Mcdonalds franchise sold you a Costco soy burger... when the HQ spells out exactly how to sell what products?

You've been screwed by one of the oldest tricks in the car sales game. Raise hell.

Rust proofing? Are there still dealers out there selling rust proofing?

Galvanized cars don't need any rust proofing? The only things that stuff is good for are capturing dirt, fouling fasteners, and damaging rubber parts.
