Headers tend to amplify valvetrain noise. What does it sound like up top?

I will let you know on saturday when he comes in for us to check it in person. You can not possibly diagnose this from a video online but my guess is its either nothing or an exhaust leak.

Keith, its more and more sounding like an exhaust/header leak, which was not done here. If you want to save yourself a trip and can check this yourself or have the guys that installed these parts check them then its not a bad idea. Otherwise no worries just come on out and we will take a look for you and get it figured out .

I'd guess exhaust leak as well

I have the same noise and it is driving me nuts. I would be interested in your findings. I use Thorley tri-y 1-3/4 pipes. To me it sounds like valves, but it is the exact sound. I just did a ls3 conversion.

Sounds like an exhaust leak to me, listened to the whole video. I have spent a lot of time listening to my valvetrain since I put my cam in, and the frequency and pitch of your tick, does not sound like "the normal noisy LS valvetrain" noise IMHO.
Unless the header flange or w/e is jacked up, I would assum taking them off, putting a new GM gasket, or making sure the old GM gasket is on right, and tightening down from the center out, you should be good. If its at the collector/cat area, something may be loose? |
