Angry Can't fuel up!

Hi guys,

I have a LS V6 Camaro...and I can't for the life of me fill up the car with gas without holding the pump while it fuels up. If I let go of the pump to let it fuel itself until its filled, it just immediately stops fueling. It makes the sound like I am done. So i have tried 2093208 different ways to reposition the nozzle into the car, but I have to hold the nozzle down, but holding the handle up on an angle or it just stops fueling. This is extremely annoying because I want to just be able to plugin the nozzle, walk away and hear it click when it's done fueling.

Anyone have this issue? I can't find it anywhere.

Thanks!

Yup your not alone, I have this happen occasionally. It just certain nozzles, I find most are fine but some you have to hold in. I found my stations with the good ones and try to use those when I can. Otherwise it’s not that bad to hold it till it’s finished.

Common safety feature for black Camaros. This forces you to monitor the fuel flow so that it won't be adversely effected by the excess energy absorbed by the black paint. Happens to me to.

I can't find any that work. I've tried like 5 different gas stations. This has got to be a factory issue. No cars should have this issue.

My last three vehicles have had this issue. The Camaro, FJ Cruiser and Camry. I've done it enough to notice it's the stations that have pumps that pump extremely fast. It causes the vapor recovery to trip the handle because the fuel piles up at the filler pipe opening. It is frustrating when you want to wash your windshield or check the oil etc, you have to wait and do it after. But the fast pumps are nice when you are in a hurry.

I get this problem also but I really think it's not the car but more the nozzle.

maybe GM doesn't want people walking away from a highly explosive liquid while they feel the need to go purchase a big gulp. When dealing with explosive fuels, people MAY need to pay attention to what they are doing so it's not going all over the ground, or someone forgetting about the nozzle in their tank as they pull away from the pump. Just a thought.

You Are gonna kick yourself after reading this I know I did.... All modern pump nozels contain a latch and hook. If you push the nozzle a bit harder and down slightly it will latch onto a lip on the inside of th file filler neck and stay in place.

I do it at every fuel up and it works fine. When full push in a bit and loft slighty before removing.

The real question - why didn't someone tell us sooner. :-)

To the OP, it's not an issue with your Camaro. I've had this issue with several of my other vehicles including my Camaro. Also noticed when it's happened to me, it's more prevalent when it's very hot outside. I used to pull the nozzle out just a little bit to help the vapors escape a little easier, but it was hit or miss depending on the pump. Now I hook the latch for slower pumping, get my gas in the morning when it's cooler and haven't had any issues.
