Well, I am in Montreal, Quebec CANADA
and it snows hard here in winter! I sold my 75 Camaro last month and certainly never drove it in the winter! Once I was caught late in the season by a winter storm and had to drive it to my storage garage 25 KMs away on snow and ice covered roads. It was quite "interesting" a drive as I had not yet installed the Limited-slip dif... 350 cubes and too much torque had that one power wheel a spinning a whole lot... Now that she's gone and my 2LT 2010 is on the way...I have ordered the 18" Heritage wheels with GM's best recommendation for a winter tire for our climate. I will drive my 2010 Camaro this winter and I will take many photos of the certainly interesting views I will enjoy of my Summit White Camaro buried under mountains of snow! I will rust treat it immediately (prior to delivery and regularly thereafter) to maintain all of it's sheet metal. I am hoping that Stability-Trak, traction control, ABS and my 6 speed manual with limited slip will be quite good. I will also add dead weight in the trunk. (not sandbags, I need all the space. I will actually use some of my weightlifting weights) I await a report from GM to tell me just how slim my winter 18" tires can be. Fat winter tires are no better than slim all seasons, so I am really going to size it to the minimum to increase traction. Any ideas on just how SLIM a tire we can actually put on the 2010 Camaro? ....I wonder if I will miss my AWD Aztek this winter........? eB |

I'm ordering snow tires. It's illegal not to have them here in Québec (15th of December through 15th of March)... Not sure what to get, yet, but I'll be ordering from Tirerack. Even with shipping, it's still about 800-900$ less than the local tire shop. The site's recommendation is a 17" Blizzak DM-V1. I was told, though, to go with 18", so the Scorpion Ice & Snow might be my choice...

Yo northerners! I'm stateside in Indiana but driving it year-round. Echo everything Camarodriver said. I just bought a set of 18" steelies with the all-seasons from a member here.
But I'm going to get snows anyway. We get the nice lake effect blast every winter (I'm in the north central part of the state). Blizzaks or Scorpions?

I am driving mine. Unless itsreally bad then I will be either driving my wifes or taking advantage ot the generous amount of sick days I have each year. Two things iam doing
1) Rustproofed around halloween 2) Snow tires. Someone below had mentioned they were getting steelies and all seasons. Dont know how much snow you get but did that first winter with my caddy (also rear wheel drive) Good luck and I hope luck is on your side because its not going to be fun TRUST ME. Invest in s aset of snow tires it make s aworld of difference. I will never drive all seasons again in winter after having snows it doesnt make sense Someone had mentioned 18's from tire rack how much are thye or did they cost you shipped to Canada ?

Tirerack gives me roughly 1560US$, shipping included for 4 scorpion ice, 4 cheap alloy wheels, 4 tire pressure sensors and 4 metal valves. Add taxes, tire fees and brokerage fees (damn UPS!) and it comes to roughly 1800$
The 17" package (Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1, wheels, sensors, valves, shipping) is about 20$ less. Any opinion on which would be better? Phil |

I won't drive mine in the wet, salty slush or snow. There are lots of winter days where the roads are dry and sun is shining. Look for me!
