So we finished with 631 RWHP SAE & 565 ft lb's. This was with 91 Octane gas and boost floating in the 7.5 to 8lb range.
This intercooler is the best air to air we have ever tested. A 1st thru 4th gear run on the street, intake air temps never went over 95 degrees and in the 4th gear under full throttle they started to come back down to ambient temp. Here is the dyno graph of before in after. The dip is my tach lead cutting out on me on the S/C run. Last edited by Mike@RMCR; 11-19-2009 at 10:50 PM. |

Just plain 91 octane pump gas, the highest available in this high altitude.

Final summary and first impression of driving the car
Well, I just drove from Colorado Springs to Loveland, CO after getting done with the tune. THIS CAR IS JUST AWESOME!!! It was hard to see the road because my eyes were squinted from the huge smile on my face.
When I went in the passenger seat on Mark's final test drive, I couldn't believe the power. The only way I can explain it is, have you ever been on a world class roller coaster? You know when you reach the very top and start down the nearly vertical drop? Well, the feeling in your stomach at that moment is what it felt like when he went through 1st thru 4th gears, times ten!!! Anyways, the first 60 miles was great, then when I started into Denver the snow started to fall, during Friday evening rush hour, fun, fun. It took over an hour to go fifteen miles through Denver. By the time I got to the north end of town, there was about 4 inches of snow on the highway, and about an inch on the hood of my car. But not to worry, I found out that this car is very driveable with all that power. I never once felt out of control even with the summer tires. Traction Control and Stabilitrac works great, as well as the antilock brakes. The Vortech is very predictable, when driving normally it acts just like it did before the install, but when you get into the throttle it just starts setting you back in the seat. You better be ready to shift, because it goes from 4000 to 6000 rpm just like snapping your fingers. If you aren't paying attention, it will bounce off the rev limiter in a heartbeat. Still trying to wipe the perma-grin off my face!! Now when cruising at 70 mph in 6th gear I don't have to shift down to get around someone. It actually makes 6th into a gear you can use all the time. I'll be heading to Arizona next week, and I plan to hit the Test N Tune night in Phoenix while I'm there. I'll see what it will do at 1000 ft altitude. I'll only be using my street tires, so It probably will take some fancy driving to get it launched. But it will be alot of fun trying!! I'll post up some time slips on this thread when I get done. Also stay tuned for a link to the You Tube video of my dyno runs when they get posted. Also, I want to say thanks to the guys at RMCR. Mark is an awesome tuner, he's very good at what he does. He knew I would be taking it to lower altitudes, so he did a very safe tune. Had a straight line 11.5:1 AFR all the way through the rpm range. He said if he was to just tune it for Colorado, he would have got another 20 hp out of her and would have set it at 11.8:1 AFR. The peak boost on the dyno run was 7.5 lbs. at 6200 rpm. Up until 5800 rpm's the boost never got over 6 to 6.5 lbs. So it is a very safe tune. Should never have any issues with my engine. The blower even stayed cool enough to hold your hand on it, and not have to pull it away even after the numerous dyno pulls. Here's some final pics: In front of RMCR Not much warning of what's lurking inside!! That's Mark McCallon the owner and tuner at RMCR. Nice work Mark!!:party0038: Thanks again!
