Tuning out AFM with DiabloSport

Hello All
Wanted to see if anyone knew the answer this question. This pertains to only people in CA.. I wanted to purchase a DiabloSport Predator 2 or I3 to tune out the AFM on a stock tune. but I'm hesitate to spend the money on one to see if my car will past smog in CA.. I researched this and some say yes and some say no I don't want to add or modify a custom tune, just disable AFM. CA is so strict with SMOG. I read some post that the minute the smog tech plugs in their scanner, they will know and fail automatically and some say they don't care...Confusing and yes i researched AFM Range disabler but prefer a tune. I don't want to deal with plugin and plugging out, plus i have my Idatalink Maestro plugged into the OBD port already

You only need to unplug it when you go for your smog test.
