NOVA area performance shops?

I was just wondering where all of local owners in the Northern VA area go for the performance mods? Where are the best places to go for installs?

Broadview auto service in warrenton, he does tuning as well.

john is a top notch installer and very good tuner. (i have been through several tuners, he is the only shop/tuner i will ever let touch my car.)

John Mclaughlin (owner of Broadview auto service)

there is also Tim at TNT performance in Frederick MD, while i dont have personal experience with his work. i hear many are happy there as well. I did meet him at a gathering and he is definitely a good guy and knowledgeable.

I'm going to EB3 Motorsports in Chantilly next Wednesday for a dyno pull. I've heard from a coworker they do good work. They always have a bunch of nice looking classic and modern muscle and pony cars out front. I'll post my impressions after the dyno.

I've now been to both EB3 Motorsports in Chantilly, VA and Function Tuned in Dulles, VA for dyno pulls. They guys at both shops were friendly and helpful. EB3 seemed to be more of an American car specialist, with lots of Camaros, Corvettes and Mustangs in the shop and the parking lot. They seemed pretty big into drag racing too. Function Tuned is a Nissan specialist (he had a sweet looking GT-R in the shop getting prepped for Summit Point) and had no issues working on my Camaro.

Would performance shops be applicable as repair shops?

If you're looking for a very highly reputable repair shop in nova, find the closest Currys Auto. They have quite a few locations and they are VERY good. They service everything from Kias to ferraris. I've had great experiences with them on several vehicles in the past.

+1 for EB3 in Chantilly. I had my JBA axle-back exhaust installed there yesterday and they did a great job. It was on the lift and back on the ground in under about 45 minutes!

Woo! Finally found a thread about this - I'll contact EB3 for my MRT 2.0 axel-back once UPS gets here.

How much did they charge for the service? I'm wanting mine welded on and guestimating somewhere in the $80-$120 range.

I'll most likely be going to EB3 for my new gears (3.73). Stopped by over lunch and got quotes and time frames. Parking lot full of horsepower! Sheesh!

Make the trip down here to Richmond VA!

I have tuned dozens of 2010SS's including some wild combos.

My office and shop space is located inside of Performance Auto Sport's new shop. We can do installs from bolt-ons to custom turbo fabrications and of course we can get your ride on the dyno and get all of that hidden HP and driveability.

Let me know if I can help any of you out.

Not sure if you went to EB3 yet or not, but I highly advise against it. The guys are aholes and do not do good work. One of our G8 guys which share a good bit with your platform had some substantial work done there and they really did a poor job on his tuning. He ended up having to go elsewhere.

Their dyno is a complete ball buster. My car dyno'd at 286hp/296tq at the wheels which is lower than stock. I took the car to Springfield Motorsports just a few days later with very similar temp/humidity conditions and put down 346hp/356tq which is right where it should be in comparison to other dyno's with the same mods. Dyno's of course need to be taken with a grain of salt and should only be used as a tool to gauge progress, but a 60hp/tq difference is pretty significant by any stretch.

There is a DIY shop in Sterling, VA that our G8 group uses on a regular basis. One of our VP's has worked out a deal for our club with Ed Cove the owner for group discounts on lift and specialty tool usage. Something your group should look into if it hasn't been done yet. The VP of our local G8 Club worked out a deal with Pedders to allow the DIY shop to purchase Pedders specialty tools that will allow Camaros, GTO's, G8 and Corvettes to install Pedders bushings. (actually they should work with any bushings)

I hope this helps,
Shawn
