Thought I'd give my build thread a little love! Haha, it's been a while! Nothing new to report as far as mods to Big Red, BUT, I did bring home a new big brother for him! I've actually been pondering trading him in for a ZL1 or C7 Vette but reality got the best of me, as well as my wife , so, I went out and traded Little Red (2011 Cruze) for a 2013 CRT 1LT Equinox! Wow what a difference from the Cruze, lots more room and all around better vehicle!
Needless to say I did the right thing! My wife is pleased but I'll have to stick with Big Red for a long time to come! |

Congrats on the new ride, I'm glad you kept Big Red, especially with all the work you have put into it.

Oh don't feel bad! I'm glad Big Red is sticking around! Funny thing is I've had more compliments and people talking to me about my Camaro lately ever since I started pondering trading it in! Hmmm, someone was definatly trying to tell me something! Very true! |

So after 4 years of modding Big Red I finally decided to man up and put him to the test! I joined a bunch of other Camaro5 members on the forum sponsored Gingerman Raceway HPDE (High Performance Driving Experience) track day this past Friday and OH MAN Big Red did not disappoint! It was a blast from beginning to end!
I entered in the novice group which included a mandatory class on driving basics and an instructor that rode with me in the passenger seat. We had 6 20 minute sessions through the day and by session 6 I had it down pretty good! I must say that Big Red is by far more capable than my driving abilities! I think I did a pretty good job at preparing the car for this type of driving, but, brake upgrades and some more suspension work are in order if I decide to continue doing track days (which I think I already have!). 20 minutes of full out driving really heats up the brakes and tires! Here's a couple pics and a link to a video of my session 4! Enjoy! |

I'm sure many of us would like to think we know how to drive, but just need someplace to safely (and legally) practice. Was there anything he helped you with that you didn't know you needed?
Did you video a session with the camera inside the car? Would love to hear the car w/o the wind noise, and maybe eavesdrop on the instructor's comments. I must say that my personal idea of a dream vacation has changed from another week in Disney World to a weekend at Bondurant. Last edited by Wolfco13; 07-25-2013 at 11:30 AM. |
