Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.....
They removed almost 40 cubic feet of space in the car. GM really screwed the pooch on this one! Now you have a 3 row Terrain! I bought a 2016 cause of the room it had inside it. I didnt want a Tahoe/Yukon, but I needed the interior space. Now you cut down the space by 35% because this was impeding sales on the Tahoe/Yukon. People that need the room will look elsewhere.... And people in the 30-50K price range are not going to look to spend 10-15K more for a Tahoe/Yukon... |

If they had made these changes a year ago, they could very well have lost your sale (assuming you didn't simply buy a Yukon). But GM does not care about you as a specific individual. They care about how many individuals buy their products collectively (and how much is spent on those products). General Motors will move in whichever direction market research tells them will make them the most money. Always. If that means staying the course, thats what they'll do. If it means killing a nameplate, thats what they'll do. If it means making something bigger & more capable, thats what they'll do. If it means making something smaller & less capable, thats what they'll do. If it means making 1 vehicle to straddle between 2 market segments, thats what they'll do. If it means splitting up a former 'tweener' into 2 distinct nameplates to cover 2 different market segments, thats what they'll do. They don't always get it right (which is a whole 'nother discussion) but whatever they do, you can pretty much be guaranteed that at General Motors there is going to be a lot of internal data supporting that decision.

It's def an odd decision as Acadia coming off it's strongest sales year...predictive data is used all time in a lot of industries but it's only a tool. This is def a gamble and will be interesting to watch how this turns out. I've been saying for years GM needs a true mid size SUV, this is as close as it gets said the owner of two previous envoys.

The problem is I think a lot of people aren't seeing the forest for the trees with this thing.
Practically every GMC dealer is tied in with a Buick franchise. Buick-GMC is basically one huge brand, just like Chevrolet and Cadillac. Now look at that crossover/SUV lineup. Encore - Terrain/Envision - Acadia - Enclave - Yukon - Yukon XL There's only one overlap there with the compact CUVs once Terrain also downsizes to D2XX. Everything else follows a logical progression. The only downside to this I see is people preferring the truck-ish look of GMC over Buick, in which case true, many current Acadia owners might not want the softer lines of Enclave. In any case, there were still rumors of an Acadia XL floating around. Whether or not that will come to fruition has yet to be seen, especially with a GM exec yesterday saying there wouldn't be any new segment GMCs in the next 5 years.

Nice looking ride...I like it...interior looks great. Not sure about the rear profile, but I need to see more for sure. But I think I can definitely say I like it.
700 pounds lost sounds SUPER impressive, but not quite as much when you consider the smaller size, as someone said above. Still great. So I thought the Traverse, Acadia, and Enclave were all the same size? No? Is that changing for 2017....Enclave will remain current size while Traverse and Acadia shrinks a bit?

Traverse and Enclave are supposed to stay full size.

So that means Travese stays competitor size wise with the Explorer right
So does that make the new Arcadia the size of a Ford Edge? |

Yes and yes. Acadia is a tad longer than Edge.
The dimensions are within an inch or so of my Envoy besides height, probably due to more ground clearance with my Envoy.

I own an Acadia now and I was excited to see this new one. I'm Disappointed in the shrinkage in size though. I'll probably look but end up buying a slightly used 2016 SLT.

2017 GMC Acadia looks like a direct size competitor for the Ford Explorer from the spec sheet but with the base Ford at 4443 lbs with the 3.5 V6 compared to the GMC coming in at 3956 lbs in base form.
Nearly 500 lbs difference. WOW. http://media.gmc.com/media/us/en/gmc...12-acadia.html http://www.ford.com/suvs/explorer/sp...ions/exterior/

Explorer is a segment bigger than Acadia. Take a look at interior space.
