Dynomax Axle-Back Exhaust

Saw the Dynomax axle back on their website. They are claiming an increase of 16HP and 21 lb/ft. Has anyone installed one of these yet?

well... I'm going to have to say those claims for an axle back seem a bit optimistic to me...

No sound clip for the V6 either. Cool paint job on the V8 in the video though.

I agree, based on what you saw with your header test. It would be cool to hear the system however.

Flowmaster, and now Dynomax claim some pretty BIG gains from just axle back addition?

Starting too lose faith in exhaust MFG claims? Hard to imagine Chevy would have left 16HP and 21 lb/ft on the table by not having a better configured exhaust on the V6?

They could have 320 HP car, if it was this easy?

just my .02 cents...and yes I know they have to try and have a quieter stock exhaust but still hard to believe ...

I agree, My exhaust guy suggested these new mufflers should cut down on cabin drone too, whic I am experiencing with my Flowmaster Super 44's

There is a video on youtube about the Flowmaster exhaust system, showing them compare stock to their axle back system, and they show the dyno results for both.

The way they explain it is a bit misleading. There is very little improvement (if any) in the peak HP and TQ numbers. It looks like their "big gains" are further down in the power band.

So while it is possible that there may be gains in the lower RPMs, it doesn't seem that there is much of a gain in total HP numbers.

Why can't you just buy the mufflers and have a shop tweak them in place??

How do those sound?
I want a more racy sound, but do not necessarily want volume.

You can buy them, I got mine from JEGS for $99 each and will get them on this Tuesday My muffler guy recommended the 2.5 inch because they were offset/offset, much like the Flowmaster Super 44's I'm taking off...too much drone for me
