I put cutouts on my 4 door camaro.

Since its the same engine as the 2 door V6 Camaros (3.6L DI), I thought some of you may like to hear that they actually sound pretty good. I was worried about a real obnoxious sound like many V6s offer.

http://youtu.be/BRqK9gImgMg

The words of the guy who did it at cincy speed said "It sounds like a pissed off M3".

Its hard to get a good sound recording, but here's what I can tell you. Its not obnoxiously loud, but its loud enough to let those around you know whats up. Its quiet enough that I'm probably going to leave them open all the time. There is no raspiness, rattle, or otherwise common with many V6s and pretty much all I4s. Any raspiness you hear is because its exceeding the limits of my cell phone microphone.

I have turn-downs I'm putting on, I just wanted to see how they looked, worked, sounded, before I put them on, so the look will get cleaned up- plus you can only see them from laying on the ground behind the car, but I'm going to put the turn downs on it anyway.

So take from it what you will, and watch the video, but I must say I am 100% pleased

2010 Camaro SS modified extensively. I stretched the body to make it a 4 door, but I swapped in the 3.6L DI V6 for fuel economy. Then I picked up a corvette body around the V8. I also swapped the body for a C2 Z28. (In short I traded it for three cars, a Corvette Z06r, a C2 Camaro Z28, and a Cadillac CTS Summer Performance package 3.6L DI with Aisin 6spd.)

Does the Caddy have a resonator between the cut-outs and engine? Yours does sound different than the ones where the cut-outs were up front ahead of the Camaro's resonator.

I put the cut outs after the resonator and cats. Its right before the muffler. (Right where the exhaust bends outwards into the mufflers), the cutouts go "straight". Most people I know have put the cutouts up front, and while it sounds awesome for an occaisonal "look how loud my car is", its too loud for normal driving. I look at this as more of an "exhaust alternative" . Sporty when you want to be, or flip a switch and drive in silence.

Based on my experience with the 3.6L DI Caddy and the 5th gen V6 Camaro is they are dang near identical drivetrain wise. I know I'm going to get hammered about the minute differences by someone ("THE CADDY USES A NARROWER TIMING CHAIN SO ITS QUIETER" type thing"), so to the best of my recollection of being under both, it has the same (or extremely similar) exhaust setup, so should have the same sound from a post-resonator cut out.

Got the Camaro out briefly yesterday. With the good temp. and all the rain, I thought most of the salt would be washed away.

My car is actually on blocks and jacks, it is a little harder to do it.

Not to mention my plates are expired through the winter and insurance is dropped...

I think, but not sure. it is stored in my heated garage. House insurance covers it if something were to happen.

Not sure when, but ya, the buckeyegoats always get it organized. I will let you all know once I know.
