Ok so me and my dad have been looking to buy an AR-15 lately. We mostly shot old WW2 guns like garand and carbines and 1911. We were looking to buy an Rock River with the comp 20' barrel solid stock. But a friend of mines dad works at a gun store and can get us a good deal on the same gun but a bushmaster. Any input?

Bushmaster is a great gun. You will love them, but start saving for all of the extras you are going to want to put on it.

Alright thanks for the fast response. I am going down there with my dad and see what kind of deal we can really get.

Nothing wrong with a Bushmaster...
Like was said before, set some money aside for the furniture you are about to purchase for it.. What optic you going with? |

For right now it will be Iron Sight. Will most likely upgrade in the future. I plan on buying this and then doing a few mods to the SS before the Oshawa trip.

For all your AR questions to be answered, head over to the forums at ar15.com. Do some reading. Stay out of the picture threads unless you want to go broke very quickly.

I prefer DPMS or Colt because I have a lot of "time" in with them. lol. But it's kind of like a Ford vs. Chevy thing.... They are all good guns. |

check out the S&W M&P 15-22.... its a .22LR AR15 basically.... but its built as a .22 specific (not just a conversion). They're around $400-450 if I remember right... all kinds of cool goodies too |

well, with S&W.... you get what you pay for. Their service is top notch... if it ever breaks or anything.... send it back to them and they'll fix it (goes for anything they've ever made). I got a semi-auto .22 that's given me fits since day one.... they won't do squat about it . The magazines are cheaply made (bought nicer ones, so it feeds now). It also had trouble with the bolt release.... it just hangs open and won't close back without reaching inside it and jiggling the bolt stop.... total pain. If I was gonna buy a new .22.... that 15-22 is the way to go! If your thinking about a pistol .22.... that new Ruger 22-45 is pretty cool. Very accurate and reliable... I've kinda thought about picking one up myself... I've already got enough "small" stuff though.... but you always need more |
