powdercoat stock rims

i have multiple questions about this... i like the stock ss rims, but i want to get them powdercoated black. what is the best "black"... matte or the glossy look? how much does it normally cost to get this done? also, if anyone has done it, what is the durability of it? would it be better to get actual black rims? any help would be nice.

Some aftermarket wheels are powdercoated from factory it is reliable and cool, if you live in a place that has magnesium cloride on the roads i would recommend gloss, but then again it is a camaro, not much snow action. Just dont skimp out, quality powdercoater will make or break it.

Gloss or matte depends on your personal taste; the color scheme you want for your Camaro...

Depending on the powdercoat shop... $50+ a wheel, excludes the cost of dismounting, mounting & balancing.

or

$150+ for factory reproductions, excludes sensors, mounting & balancing

Stock stripes are flat black so get flat black powder coat, or switch stripes to gloss and get gloss powder coat.

I just mine done in a gloss black with Rally Yellow accents inset on the spokes, I need to have the center caps painted as the powder will not take on the plastic caps. Soon as my wheel guy has some free time I have to take it in to be mounted since I have to do something with my rusting rear brake rotors that GM will do nothing about.

Cost was $650, but remember there was a lot of masking involved.

i just saw an old thread where someone got theirs in flat black with 3% gloss, and looking at the pics, they looked almost gray. i dunno if that was just the picture quality or what.

also, i have no way of just taking off the rims and bringing them into a shop/dealership. and im also worried about if they put the rims back on, will they scratch up the lugnuts.

I had mine powder coated semi-gloss black. Not sure about pricing, because my uncle works at a tire distributor that does powder coating and got mine done for $90 total (including dis-mounting, mounting, and balancing). I painted my center caps with the plasti-dip, and it stills looks good after a few months of washes. I also painted my calipers black with the G2 caliper paint kit from Tire Rack while the wheels were getting powder coated.

Get black locking lug nuts. I bought mine from Apex Chase. They look great with the black rims, plus you have the added security of wheel locks.
