I put mine in a film canister (you know like when we used to develop film?) and keep it in center console. It can hold over 5 dollars in quarters plus some.
(This is where I store my car wash vacuum change)

I keep a plastic spice bottle (think it was a Kroger brand seasoned pepper bottle) in the glove box. Keeps the change together in one place out of sight and doesn't make a "target" for someone looking for a couple bucks breaking out my window or cutting my top to get it.
