Who has blown up the motor in your FI camaro or any gm Ls vehicle?

Just curious. People constantly ask how much boost will it hold, how much power will it hold blah blah. List what kind of forced induction, how much boost, other mods and what let go. Should be intersesting.

Maggie SC @11-12 psi, Night Fury cam, Alky ctrls Dual nozzle Meth, LPE twin fuel pump, ID850 inj, Super Chiller (IAT's never got over 100F) Kooks LT totaling 650rwhp with a 6L80 auto. 22,000 miles on engine, about 1000 at this power level with six 1/4 mile passes. What let go? Good question my builder said no one could answer that after they took my engine down.

Stock engines break all the time, so where do you put those? There will be people making 900+ for years, and others popping them at idle on the way home. Friends zl1 blew up at a stop light on the way home from a car show. Another friends corvette was bone stock and lost a motor.

Good combo, good tuner, and good octane and a FI LS motor can live a long life assuming no factory defects/etc. You will always have people popping at lower levels than others like the guy above.

Fuel pressure dropped off at 191 mph at the Texas mile-Detonated-bent five rods.
Drove it home 800 Miles.

My OE motor lasted about 6500 miles at powers from stock, 440whp, 637 whp and 715whp at 11 psi.

I was running an experiment on how much abuse the motor could take before letting go. My last mod with the D1 was pulleying down and boost at 11psi. This was 715rwhp with meth. My tuner at the time told me that even though the injector DC was 88%, the meth would cover it. My bad for trusting him.

Well, 6 weeks later at that boost and about 6 gallons of meth the # 5 piston top 2 ringlands went. Car drove but smoked pretty good after that when in boost.

I just depends! If you drive it very abusively, its gonna go. If you baby it, it will last years at over 800.

Stuff happens!

My new motor seems to be way more robust btw

My stock bottomend 6.2L (truck) lasted 10k miles @ 13lbs with a T76mm
Forged 376ci lasted 30miles yes 30 miles @ 20lbs with a 76mm smh.......
forged 390 lasted 2,000 miles before I sold. My 6.2L made 627rwhp the forged made 737rwhp and the 390ci made 817rwhp and my stock 6L80e with a 3200 converter never skipped a beat

I didn't know the rods were bent or I probably wouldn't have driven it back.
The bent rods cocked the pistons in the bores and scored them up a bit.
It didn't smoke or use any significant amount of oil.
I sold the stock shortblock to the local machine shop and built the LSX.
It is pretty amazing the abuse they will take.

A tad over 10k miles now on my Livernois build LSX motor living its life between 15-22psi, and 800-1100rwhp. No issues, runs and drives great. Stock motor broke a lifter at 23k miles, but that isn't related to FI. It did have a blower and was 705rwhp at the time. Pistons looked great, no issues. Stock cars and trucks eat lifters all the time so do you put that down as a forced induction motor failure?

I wonder if the 6l80's in the trucks are vastly different than the Vette versions. In the Vette, the 6L80's shoot craps at anything much over stock power levels. Making hard shifts behind a stout motor in a 5K# truck is WAY harder on a tranny than making the same shifts in a 3K# vette.
