Need Some advice for a 1st drag car
I have always wanted to get into the drag racing scene. I just havent had the opportunity to really get into it till now. I am currently looking to buy a 4th Gen Camaro as my 1st dragstrip car. I thought about an 04'ish Pontiac GTO but it is just outside my price range. I found several very reasonable 4th Gen Camaros. My question to you guys is the 4th Gen Camaro a great choice for a first drag car? I will definetly be modding it like crazy once I get it. The aftermarket is very reasonable and I've hear a lot of great things about the LS1. Just would like ya'lls advice. Is there another car out there that I should look into? Maybe a car that I never thought of. Any advice would really help me out. Thanks as I'm a newbie to drag racing.

Personally the 4th gen camaro is a great choice. The gto not so much as it has IRS. I would definitely look for a camaro or Transam. Both would be great car.

As much as I like Camaros, I would find a fox body mustang to build a drag car with, cheap and fast, there are a ton of parts for them and you can build an 8 second car for far less. you could even power with an LS motor....

Thanks for the input guys. I've always been a GM guy so I'm gonna stick with somethin from GM. Now if I got a trans or camaro my would probably be a SLP 400HP kit, SLP Long tube headers, cutouts, head and aggresive cam kit, upgraded pulleys, upraded throttle body, Catch can, some suspension mods (dont know what yet), Short throw shifter, Crossed drilled/ slotted rotors, as well as upgraded brakes, Cowl induction hood, and some others that Im forgetting right now. Haha I would like to get it supercharged but Im gonna have to daily drive it sometimes so I figured a head and aggressive cam kit would work just fine. What do ya'll think Supercharge it or just the cam will be fine? Also any of the mods I listed are they a good starting point? Also if I missed any mods please just let me know, or mods you think Im gonna need with that set up.

Don't do anything before a rear. Also look around, SLP is not the best for aftermarket parts

Buy the cheapest sound body (even a v6), then find yourself a LQ4 (04-06) and run a turbo on it. A lot more potential than a super charger.

WS6store.com is probably the best. I buy most of my stuff from them.
