HEY 1967 RS QUESTION!?
What's a project 1967 RS (needs rear rails and floorpans, engine / tranny rebuild +paint) worth with all numbers matching including protecto plate included? Engine and Tranny not installed but included. It has original 327 and powerglide transmision. Original interior in decent shape, the car is primered atm. I am considering purchasing but I have seen some non numbers matching 1st gens in sweet shape for around 16K+-. Anyways i would appreciate any and all educated replies on the project i am considering. Thank you in advance!

That is a difficult question especially without pictures. The monetary value of the completed project will be less than the cost of the restoration even when you figure the labor is free. That would be a labor of love type car where you do it for the personal enjoyment and forget about the costs. Welding up a rusty car is not financialy sound from an investment standpoint.
It sounds like someone has started this project but ran out of money and time. Most of these kind of projects start/end that way. If you can do all the welding yourself and have the means then you might want to tackle this for the fun of it. What it costs you up front is just a number agreed to by you and the seller. It could be anywhere from $500 to $2500. I have seen some good projects change hands in that range. If the seller wants much more than that, you may want to look for a less rusty project. Been there, done that, THANK GOD the wife never saw the reciepts. I hope this helps. -Mark. |

Post up some pictures to help determine what value we see in it.
For the most part, if you really want a project car...then buy it. You will spend money (plus maybe money you don't have) but once you finish the project it will be rewarding... You have to finish though... I have a 67 Camaro SS350 I bought with little rust (that I saw) and no motor and I have replaced the fenders, doors, radiator support with new Goodmark metal... Plus I put a 400 SBC with an Offenhauser Crossram on it... You can find a decent 67-68 Camaro roller for around $6000 or less (give or take) but when you find a true RS then the price goes up... 69s are more sought after and typically more valuable...espically a true RS. Good luck!
