If it was around 2 years ago when I bought my SS I would have got it. The Concept looks awesome. Love the black/red color combo.

Camaro 1LE Concept

Born in the Camaro’s third generation and refined further in the fourth generation as a road-racing performance package, the legendary 1LE option code designation returns to the Camaro as a concept intended to carve up road courses. While only a concept, it borrows production components from both the Camaro SS and forthcoming Camaro ZL1 to deliver a competition-ready package. Hash mark graphics on the front fender are pure Chevrolet racing cues, too.

Vehicle highlights:

■Victory Red exterior color, with flat black hood and hash mark extensions
■Satin black splitter, rocker panels, rear spoiler and outside mirrors
■Sport suspension featuring Magnetic Ride Control
■Electric power steering
■Six-speed manual close-ratio transmission
■Lightweight 20x10-inch (front) and 20x11-inch (rear) racing wheels (satin black)
■Goodyear® Eagle F1 Supercar G asymmetrical tires (from the ZL1)
■Brembo® six-piston front calipers, with two-piece front rotors, and four-piston rear calipers (Chevrolet Official Licensed Product)
■Dual exhaust outlets with ZL1-style active exhaust and diffuser
■Shock tower brace
■Chevrolet Accessories red engine cover
■Black leather interior with Light Stone stitching
■Graphite Silver door and instrument panel inserts
■ZL1 shifter with Light Stone stitching
■ZL1 flat-bottom steering wheel
■Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit
“The Camaro 1LE concept is all about the track,” said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer for the Camaro. “It’s an all-out race car package that pays tribute to that special option from the past.”
In a one word answer.....yes.

The 1LE would apitomize everything that the previous Z28's have been about. No nonsense Horsepower and Performance.

That's Z28 to me.

We're in for a ZL1, but would also do a 1LE if and when it gets the Green Light.

Oooooh....Fathom Green.

I wouldn't call it Z28. Save that for the sixth gen which will be much lighter and could be a true "track" car.

As the for 1LE, I would buy it, but it needs something more than the 426HP of the SS stock. Maybe 460HP. Needs to be able to compete with the BOSS.

1LE?! We want the Z28 already. They are almost the same thing anyway, but an attainable Boss destroyer with an emblem starting with Z should be the goal.

LOWDOWN is right. I would only suggest
Wouldn't it be nice to haver a base
Z/28 (1LE) > Boss (better hp/wt)
+
Z/28-X (Extreme). > BossLS (better hp/wt)

The way it's described is a ZL1 light. Borrowing suspension / brakes / shifter / exhaust upgrades from the ZL1 but no upgraded engine? What good does a better breathing engine give you if it's not enhanced? I'd say yes, but lighten it up A LOT, put an LS3 w/ a better h/o cam to go along w/ the suspension upgrades and then you might have something. Oh yeah, 18" forged wheels max. no big heavy wheels and tires.

Take out all the extra stuff that's not essential. No power seats, we're after performance here after all. All the wiring included w/ that, no ambient lighting. Manual windows, locks. Lightweight recaro racing seats, less sound dampening. Forged wheels, limit the max size to 18's. Smaller gas tank. Most folks aren't going to daily drive this car, fuel range isn't the objective.

Frank, at the risk of wasting a few hours of your time, take a gander through this thread (if you haven't seen it before). Weight reduction, with some GM "insider" assistance about mid-way through, was "rationalized" to the extent that may be Oshawa-enabled.

Add stiffer bushings all around, solid cradle bushings, adjustable coil overs, freer flowing cats and a few other tweaks to add 20hp, cut some weight from the interior/body, ditch the magentic ride, and keep it affordable and closer to 2SS pricing than ZL1 pricing. If that had been around last spring I would have gotten it instead of mine.

A track car doesn't need power seats and all that other crap. So if its meant to be all about the track make it all about the track and let it spank the Laguna Seca.

I actually really like the idea. To me it is the same as a grand sport corvette. All the looks and technology of a z06 but the power of a standard corvette which is powerful enough. Depending on price I would go with a 1LE over a ZL1.

I like it a lot ,but don't think I would trade my modified SS in for it. If it had the Z06 engine then my SS would be bye bye
