Consider also doing just behind the door handles where nails and rings can scratch, and a 1/4" strip along the door edges to guard them in the event you open into something. One thing I didn't do, but thought of after is having the gas cap door done, you'll end up touching it a lot...even when dusty/dirty...couldn't hurt.
