I had the JBA shortys listed on the V6 exhaust sticky thread, so I thought these deserved a place there as well! Added!

Thanks John for the info.

Thanks.

Here's a pic of the headers installed. You can see the sensor and cat below.

sounds nice!

the dyno guy wasn't very consistant in his starting and ending the dyno sampling at the same rpms, this is why you're seeing a variance in start end rpms on your graph, it's a shame, that would give a better measure of comparable hp/trq #'s side by side. I bet you gained all the way up, just looks like they got off the gas at 6kish and you see the decline on the dt run. congrats on the gains! how much were the headers/cats?

how was the install? I am guessing you would take the cat and downpipe out and weld them to new headers and then put it back in as one unit?

I've only got about 75 miles on it since I picked it up Saturday, but so far no CEL. That 75 miles did include some "testing", i.e. me driving too fast to see how it sounded and a couple WOT launches. So it has been under pressure and so far so good.

I reset the avg mileage today and so far I'm getting 2 full mpgs better, from 17.8 avg to just over 20 avg. We'll see if that lasts once I punch it on a few more on-ramps.

Wish I could tell you. I left the car up in Corona at DTH for a couple days so they could fit it into their schedule. I picked it up Sat. morning and it was done. Not sure if they welded first or after. Jamie @ DT does this sort of thing all day long so I'm guessing this was a piece of cake for him.

So correct me if I'm wrong but since these are welded on, there should be much less chance of the leak thats causing the CEL for almost everyone else right? I have been holding off on headers because of the CEL but if this addresses the issue.....hmm

That's the idea. It seems to be working so far.

John,

Great pic of the header on the car. They look Great!

Are these Aluminum headers that are ceramic coated?
Would love to see how they welded the collector to the down pipe. Does the shop have any pics of the install?

Cats are stock. Headers are about $490 for the set. You can check the price on the Doug Thorley website here.

Yes, they are ceramic coated. In fact this is the only way they are available.

Are they aluminum? ...

[On second thought, I think the aluminum-like appearance is actually the silver ceramic coating which is on the inside and outside of these. These are steel I believe.]

Funny you mention this.. After my 2 year stay in Japan.. a co worker of mine had married a Japanese girl, very nice girl BTW, and he told her that "To Wife" is a "Verb" lol. He asked her to "wife him a beer", and she did.. came back saying "Look honey, I wife you beer!" His reply.. "Yes you did!"
