If you want to drive the car and have fun, manual. If you want the car to drive you and you steer, get the auto. People are more impressed when you run the fast times at the track, not hating but everyones going to ask if its stick and if you say no then you can see the displeasure amongst the masses lol

I have no regrets with getting the auto.
I don`t feel like I am missing anything by not being able to shift gears.

No problems with my auto. In fact, I got an auto because my 63 year old knees can't handle a clutch any more! I don't miss manual one bit. By the way I think autos outsell manual.

If you like to drag race, get an automatic. If you like to go to the race track, get a manual. They will both be faster in those usages. If you are a manual fan, don't just get the automatic for the deal. You'll regret it. This applies for the reverse as well. If you like automatics, don't get the manual to save some cash. In the long run you won't be happy. Let's Go RANGERS!!!

Another consideration for auto....
OK SSTG, my 2 cents & all depends on your marital situation.
If you're single (or newly married) and enjoy have a free hand for holding onto your girl then Auto is the only way to go my friend!!!! Then again, if your married more than a couple years, hand holding (& other body parts) are out of style, then rowing thru the gears is a viable option. I'm in the second camp (22 years married) but got the Auto anyway... |

Your right Jess! Autos rule drag racing & thats not the only time people go fast. An auto ZL1 has the 1/2 mile record & the 1 mile record! Ha ha I couldn't resist, you walked into that one!

I was thinking more about the curves but you do have a point, and unlike the 1/4 mile, I think the second place car in the categories you mentioned is a manual so the autos are not totally dominant. And unless you show up to defend your record in October, a manual just may take it.... I'm trying to egg you on so we can meet up down there.

tap shift works great at the road course...the auto is much better at matching downshift rpm than I would be with a manual.

I am not going to get into the debate about if you have a penis or a ******.
All I have to say is, If there is any doubt in your mind it will not go away. If you are thinking you might end up regretting getting an automatic instead of a manual, then you will end up regretting it. You have already created the doubt in your own mind. |

Auto's rule, drop it into hammer mode and enjoy the ride.

Right on Mike! Well there you go Jess! Its a party now! Ask & you shall receive! I forgot to mention something Jess, I have a tranny at RPM right now being built to handle the 1400 rwhp my motor & turbos have been begging for, just gotta install it & push the little screen in the glove box to 30 psi & keep it straight. I think an automatic ZL1 is gonna keep the crown!
