You poor guys. Here in west Texas we have only seen one day at +18 degree. Gauge right or wrong, too cold to live where you do. Try not to freeze to death.

The thermometer is very accurate in my car.
A difference of 7 deg's can be explained by where "their" thermometer is located. On a hill, in a valley, at an airport, a few miles from your exact location? My house is always off a few degrees then what they say on TV or radio.

By the way, I was 8 below 0 at my house this morning.

That's actually a read-out of your bank account balance after buying a 2SS!

George Carlin had a hilarious bit about the "official" temperature and how the weatherman is always telling us the temperature at the airport -- "the one place in the city where NO ONE LIVES!"

Yes, as stated, temperature variances within a city can be quite dramatic. I believe the temp gauge is very accurate. But there are other factors to consider too. Such as direct sunlight. Amount of vehicles around you etc... So take the weatherman and your gauge as a general guide, not absolute truth.

When weather station measure temp. they do it very accurately. The sensor is 15 feet above the ground. Since air is heated from the ground up, it makes sure that it isn't getting false readings by being too close to the ground. It is also in the shade so it is the actual temp and not the heat index temp. All of the temps that you see posted in cars and on bank signs is close but not the real temp.

I think it reads a little high. One thing I found out while doing some monitoring with my Diablo Trinity is that the tuner is always 1.5 to 2 degrees cooler than what the cars display reads. Don't know why. I would think that the car is feeding the tuner the same info as what it displays. Doesn't make sense to me but the tuner is closer to ambient air temp.

On a side note, my DIC displays the message about icy road conditions when the temp display reads 37 degrees. What temp are you guys getting the message?

When the temp display drops to 37 degs. on all our cars, you get the icy conditions message on the DIC screen. (It lasts for about 10 secs.) If the temp goes above 37 then back down to 37, you get it again, or if you shut the car off and restart.

My temp gage is pretty accurate ecept when it it wet out or after I wash the car.
Then it reads ten deg. lower for some reason.

Mine is consistently about 4 degrees F too high. My 09 Silverado however is always right on the money. The Camaro engineer needs to talk to the Silverado engineer.
