Bought a certified preowned illegal camaro!

Just found out my black beauty has had the cats deleted, won't pass vehicle inspection (friend helped me out). Dealership is claiming I did the delete, I'm pretty peeved how this dealership sold me an illegal off road vehicle as certified 110 point check preowned!

Guys what can I do? Do I bite the bullet, get a lawyer or contact chevy?

BS, contact chevy. Did you just buy the vehicle? You have 7 days to return it.

I would immediately contact Chevrolet, can't hurt. You can threaten the dealership with taking the story to the local news, I have heard that can be an effective tactic. I'm wondering if there isn't something you can try through the DMV or something. Somebody somewhere has to care that there is a de-catted vehicle on the loose. Hopefully they accept the story that it was sold that way rather than you having done it. Good luck.

I bought the Camaro in April, I turned to the only guys I trust about camaros, you guys. Sadly I am ashamed that I am not a modder, it's always out of my price range to do anything but dream. To put this into perspective I thought cars wouldn't even start without a cat.

I contacted customer service and he asked if I could bring it into a dealership to have it reinspected, but not after I get under there with a camera in about 10 minutes.

I have never driven a V8 powered sportscar and it is quiet compared to other modded camaros in this area. My car does not sound modded or loud at all.

I owned a 2007 350z prior fully stock and they sound about the same to me.

Yes your dealer you bought it from should take care of it and put cats back on it, if they give you BS about it, talk to the DMV and see what they say to do.

You can't take it back because there is not right of recession or lemon law on used cars.
Best bet is to either find a set of used cats to go back on or find a plce that will "pass" it. Other than that it is going to be a fight to get the dealer to admit that they sold it to you like that. I would ask to see the inspection report that they did and "threaten" them with going to a lawyer.....

Didn't it have to pass inspection before they could sell it to you?

If it doesn't have cats and is not throwing a code, it is probably tuned as well. Thinking out loud here, but I am wondering if you could take it to another dealership. Maybe they could tell you when the ECU was last flashed. If you could prove that the ECU was flashed with another tune before you purchased the car, then you could prove that they sold you a car without cats.

They must have done there "pretend 100 point inspection".
