Yes, one wire, LOL, It must need to transmit and receive a signal. Since everyone on here loves our camaro's, I will not say anymore about that.

I think Onstar is worth it for the daily drivers ( I daily drive) and every month I get a report, not so much for the racers. I actually like my car having it's own phone number. I don't have to reach for my phone. I know there are other alternatives with bluetooth (my work phone) and I utilize those options too because I don't give my car phone number to strangers.

Stealing is wrong no matter who you are. Leaving the keys in a car is thinking we live in an Utopia and to trust everyone. I've seen good people influenced to do bad things based on a dare.

Glad the dude got his car back.

Dumb ass shouldn't leave the keys in it. If someone steals mine, they can keep it. Why should I have to deal with a trashed car becuase some $hitbag stole it. He'll probably get a slap on the wrist and be out in 6 months. Laughing it up with all his homies about what happened.

i will think twice next time i have to run into the store thou...
Not me, i've NEVER left my car running, i always lock my car even at night in my garage. IF i use the remote start the doors locked and if you try to step on the brake it kills the engine. but i'm pretty paranoid, i lock my car even if i'm just next to the gas pump pumping gas. better safe than sorry.

I feel for the guy who got his car stolen, and even though we should be able to leave our houses and cars unlocked without fear of things getting stolen, the reality is we don't live in 1951 and things are different. why give someone the opportunity to steal??

Idiots leave keys in their car. And OnStar will protect even the idiots among us.

The onstar service itself is good. BUT- their customer service can lick the sweat off my...well, you know.

Been trying for a month to renew both the truck and the Caddywagon using their online renewal system from their website, but NOoooo...it doesn't want to work for whatever reason. It actually put a "pending charge" on my new charge card, then it vanished, and no charges were charged to my card. So I know it went through. I just don't know why they didn't complete it.

Using "contact us" email, all those pinheads kept telling me was how sorry they were, and that my card on file had expired (duh, I knew that already- that's why I was trying to UPDATE it with my new credit card and renew.) and that I should call their billing department or push the blue button. Happened EVERY email I sent them.

I told them I did my part, they needed to do theirs. And after a few of those insipid emails back and forth, I told them to call me or send me an invoice in the mail and I'd gladly pay by check. And the next time someone told me to call the billing department or push the blue button, our conversation would be over.

Guess what their response was? Yep. Now the conversation is over. Too bad OnStar has to lose a customer for THEIR piss-poor customer service.

um

So do you have to be a subscriber of OnStar for them to disable the car, or is it just because its there?

And I agree...total dummy for leaving his keys in car....some insurance companies will try to deny a theft claim if they found out the keys were left in the ignition.....

Yeah would have to agree on their bad customer service. I've contacted them multiple times by email to get issues resolved because they couldn't understand that my mom and I wanted different accounts after they "accidently" merged ours when I bought my Camaro. Then after we got them separated apparently they thought I wanted to pay for my Mom's account as well as mine even though we gave them separate cards

All of which I gave emails and they asked me to call billing. I'm like if I wanted to call you guys I would have called... Why do you have an email contact if you can't sort issues out with them by email? Some of us work during the hours your call centers are open.

Why even question that comment? A few members has made statement regarding that site. And yes theyre ignorant as thieves come in all shapes and colors. Anyone who believes otherwise is an idiot. Plus why give a criminal the ammo to commit a crime against you like this guy did?
