How to clean my stainless exhaust tips...PICS inside

The tips on magnaflow 16483 are a weird color, all I have is some chrome polish but this is the best I could do, how do those stains come off polished stainless? I don't even know what they are or how the got there, I had removed the kit and was in the rafters of my garage.

Try using a clay bar. I have never done it myself, but I hear it works wonders on exhaust tips.

Looks like the stain is heat related, but not sure how to remedy it.

Honestly, the only thing I can personally recommend that MAY work on that is this.

http://www.autogeek.net/p153.html

It is ideal for tips that are dirty from the fumes/carbon build up. It just may help with cleaning some of that up.

The other thing is, use a polish of some kind on the affected area as that may work as well.

I personally think you are out of luck, can't think of anything to remove or fix that.

you could try some really fine sand paper and wet sand it then move up to a finer grit and then apply some metal polish with a dremel or some sort of high speed buffer. If its stainless and not chrome it should be ok. You wont hurt stainless

If nothing else works.. get some actual stainless steel scratch remover... its out there in the appliance world.. and use the finest abrasive pad they offer... I havent tried it on polished but have used it lots on real stainless steel.

I agree with Flitz
Great stuff. I believe I found some locally at ACE Hardware.
