Do you consider your ZL1 a "keeper"?
My ZL1 is the best all around car I've owned. That being said, I generally tend to hold onto my cars a bit longer than most. I just got rid of my lt1 after 20 years of ownership, and I'm still holding onto my '99 SS 13 years later. I think the ZL1 is a truly special car..I may keep this until my grand children have grand children. lol! I don't even have children yet! lmao!!!
What would it take for you to get rid of your ZL1?

I love my ZL1, but generally buy a new car every 4 years or so. This, however, is my first high performance car so we'll see if I want to keep it longer? I love the Z06, but I'm really curious to see what a Gen 6 Z28/ZL1 will be like. I look forward to that and with my hazy crystal ball I can see me purchasing one of those cars in 2018 or so (whenever a high performance Gen 6 comes out).

I really love my ZL1 as well. I don't have plans to get rid of it any time soon. I'm sure I'll have it a while. Maybe down the road if there is another awesome ZL1 I'd go for newer but I don't know.

I really like this car, but lately ive been buying a new car every 3-4 years. If café laws prop up prices of performance cars by lowering availability, I'll hang onto it longer. having a bunch of 400 / 600 hp cars all over the roads will really hurt their average MPG.

I. too, am anxiously waiting to see if there will be another ZL1 coming with the 6th gen. The new SS sounds like it may be a match for the current ZL1.

Got rid of a 1967 SS Covert Camaro for this one (that I had 32 years). Don't take trades lightly. Something monumental would have to come along.

32 years? That's amazing! Can you imagine what another 32 years will bring?

I have my daily drivers and my keepers. The ZL1 will be a keeper. I enjoy making cars my own by doing things to them. I spend a lot of money doing that, I only lose money when I go to sell it. I keep cars and collect rather than replace. You will likely be glad you did when you get older.

I'm like you Dave. I tend to buy carefully and hold onto them. Owned a TA for 27 years and have had my 04 GTO since new. When I decided to buy a ZL1 my plan was to mod it over time and keep it. It has more potential than I do as a driver so I won't grow bored with it I would however like a new SS as a daily driver when it's time to move the GTO on.

Dave,
The only car that almost (just recently) got me, was a new Z/28. I mean I came real close. The want was there, but once I really got close to signing on the dotted line, I finally realized how perfect the ZL1 is. It has no peer as far as I'm concerned. The Gen6 does nothing for me. At all. It is way too corporate looking, especially inside. Go sit in a SS, Malibu, Cruze, etc. They ALL look like the Gen6 Camaro. I'm sorry, but that's my opinion. I love the simplicity of the ZL1 interior. In fact, that's why I love my '12 model...No touch screen! I still have OnStar and XM, but no big TV screen taking up space and my attention. And that's just one example. The side gills! Being a loooong time '69 Camaro owner (since high school), I just really love the retro look of the Gen5. And now performance...Once I installed the JRE75rwhp kit and PFADT headers a few weeks ago, this car has now become an even more "old school" type hot rod. Lay down on the go pedal and you are in for the sweetest music ever heard on asphalt. I wouldn't dare put any exhaust controller on this thing. That sound and torque is exactly why I have a ZL1. It is unmatched. And I doubt there's anything out there that can top it. If you haven't modded your car, just do it. You won't regret it. And I saved the best for last. Our first Grandson was born on Friday! He's going to love going for rides---and inheriting my ZL1 in 16 years. Yea, it's a keeper. See you on the track...
