HTCC Sponsors First Camaro Corral at COTA
The Houston Camaro Club orgainized a Camaro Corral for the Grand AM race at Circuit of the Americas (COA). There were at least a dozen other car corrals around the track, but we had top billing for this event by far. Our corral parking was directly behind the main grandstands where we could see the video screens, leader board and easily migrate back and forth between our choice seats and our cars. The public got a first hand view of some very nice Camaros lined up along the walkway inside the facility.
Some of the highlights were: - Friday time trials and tours inside the pits - Elevator ride to the top of the viewing tower -Trophies presented to 3 Camaro owners by Stevenson Driver Robin Liddell, CKS driver Lawson Aschenback and our COA Corral director Chas Sheffied. - Private autograph sessions at our Corral - Saturday & Sunday morning Parade Lap for Corral participants - Hot Pit passes for 2 lucky individuals, John Stevenson welcomed them in the pits and even provided headsets to listen with. Race Results - Both CKS and Stevenson teams 4 cars total put up some great competition in their respective classes. CKS lead most of their race until they had clutch problems and had to pit. Stephenson ended up 10th in the Contenental Tire Challenge even after an extended stop to change out a rear hub and associated parts. Thanks to HTCC club President Jerry Johnson for orgainizing and to Phastek, Fastlane & Late Model Racecraft for sponsoring trophies and purchasing extra parade laps. Hope we can do something similar for V8 Supercars but after others saw our parking spots it's going to be tough to match this one. Enjoy the pics and videos |
