I could drive my Camaro anytime but I don't.
I have a 96 Bonneville for bad weather.
I spent too much time fixing rusted parts and brake lines on other cars
so I would like to keep one cherry.

this is nasty weather, cold, ice and snow. i have a 4X4 Envoy i use for this weather. my camaro vert is new, with 450 miles and all black. i want to drive it when roads are clear, not a salt mine and dangerous. for those who only have one car, there is no choice. but, with folks who have a 4X4 and a camaro, it seems more logical to drive the truck in this weather and not risk an accident. my camaro is intended for DD when roads are ok and its safe to drive.

I drive mine all the time, everywhere. I see no purpose it making it a garage queen. Once I drive it into the ground, I will just get another one. Makes more sense to me than getting a daily driver + a garage queen but to each their own.

You only have 1 car, you have no choice. If you had more than 1 car, you might feel differently. I have 10 cars, if I drove a different one everyday, I'd still only drive each one 3 times a month. Your young, bought your first car and want to drive it, been there done that.

How do you manage the insurance?

I've reached my tolerance for paying for coverage. There are some interesting cars that I would love to have - and could afford to buy and have space to park. But the ongoing cost of insuring them is prohibitive.

As it is now, I usually suspend most of the coverage on ones that I'm not driving frequently (they are still covered for comprehensive, but not collision and liability). It gets to be a hassle to manage activating coverage on the spur of the moment when I want to drive one.

I do not store my car it sits outside in the rain/sleet/snow. Two days ago I even drove it through 2-4 inches of snow with P Zeros on it. (find the other thread)

I have a friend of a friend who has a slighty older Camaro 2SS I believe it is a 2010-2011 and he stores his in the garage and says it he has not even touched the windshield wipers. He not only does not drive it in any thing that is not sunny, he barely drives it period.

Why?

This is my only car that I have ever owned. I saved up the money for it and I want to drive the hell out of it.

A couple months ago I went to a Cars & Coffee near me (Katie's in DC) and there was a Red GT-R I respected so much because he had brake dust all over his wheels dirt all on the low parts of the body. You could tell he drove the heck out of his $100k car.

BUT then you have $30-40k-ish Camaro's being garage kept?

I guess I just do not see the point of a Camaro less than a ZL1 being garage kept and not driven more. (I cannot be alone right? lol)

Please do not think I think negatively of you if you garage keep your Camaro. I respect everyone's decision even if I do not agree with them.
There is no dollar value at which a person is supposed to start caring.

No kids, just me and the wife. Have several garages, all are garaged except one.

I garage mine and I am a V6 owner. I do it because I can but I have a winter vehicle. Trust me though I do want to drive mine yet at the same time It's not the time for this driver, that car, and this weather. I swap my vehicles seasonally and when I do that swap over then and it's my DD including bad weather Ie rain so the wipers do get used. I just don't want snow and slush around it if I don't have to. I guess my other option is to move.

Yes V6 Automatic and Garaged (seasonally) I got the lower 2/3 of the VS's topic but in the end it's my car and yours is yours.

BTW chances are I love yours too cause it should be a Camaro!

Tags and insurance can be expensive for sure, all are tagged with full coverage. I have my limits also, I would have a lot more if not for insurance and tags.
