Everything should be hidden on this new Camaro, they hid the Onstar antenna in the Vettes mirrors and they cant come up with a better place than on the roof for it?

Rushed, last minute detail from GM, these are the things that should be fixed by the second or third year 5th gen. Details are what counts in a completely new car.

I'd like to have an option to COMPLETELY disable ALL FEATURES of OnStar at will.

lol, Nope, seeings how in about 1 minute you can have it off, or you can do the antenna mod that moves it under the hood out of sight and is still usable. All for $0. On the Silverado's the XM and OnStar had their own separate antennas so it was twice as nasty looking.

Taking off the antenna is great if you don't want AM/FM reception. As for this antenna mod if it's that simple why doesn't GM do this at the factory? Thats the problem.

Indeed, and it's a sad thing since it's a good looking truck. :(

I think they should put a chrome fin as a hood ornament like in the 50's. Look at that new red pickup, it looks stupid on the roof. GM can come up with a cleaner way to mount this antenna. I think they just want to advertise it, so people say " hey whats that rubber fin on your roof for?" you tell them to go get Onstar its great.

Doesn't look that bad, it's not that distracting. I can certainly live with it.

Nothing like an ugly piece of plastic on the roof to take away from the look of the car, but then again I ordered the sunroof so what do I know.

I would think with todays advancements in technology they could make it without the shark fin.

I've had XM since the first week they broadcast in November, 2001. Aftermarket XM antennae are a small low profile magnetic attaching antenna.

Now i'm guessing the reason my cell phone works inside the car without a huge shark fin is that it doesn't have to transmit the ammount of data that Onstar does, ie; monthly diagnostics of all the systems in the car. I too would rather see it hidden in the mirrors.

I am driving my second vehicle, and Camaro will be my third, with the shark fin. I have just gotten used to it being there. and I don't think it takes from the overall appearance of the Camaro.

This is another thread that shoud be merged with the Quit Bitchin thread.

Maybe you could leave the sunroof open so the antenna isn't so noticable.
