HELP!!! My Camaro is under attack!

Living in Germany many neighbors love asking me to look at my car.
I opened the hood and wow!!! I saw little foot prints on the car cover and some of the firewall insulation was ripped out. Thank god

I dont have any symptoms of bitten through cables. The car still runs good. My neighbor said there is a real problem with WEASELS. His BMW has been attacked where his spark plug wires were bitten through.
Help!!! What can I do to protect my Camaro. I have no garage. I put some wire mesh under the engine compartment and sprayed some repellant. In Germany it is illegal to kill or poison weasels. What else do you guys recommend? Help!!! Please.

Put out a live trap, and take the little critter as far away as possible. Mabe to somewhere with a Mustang?

If that doesn't work, how illegal is it to kill them?

Give me their contact info!!!

My neighbor says, the wire mesh will help because they don't like walking on it. It hurts their paws. I sprayed a bunch of repellant in the engine comparment. I just ordered a live trap for 70Euros with bait.
Anybody have this problem in the US? I know there are a bunch more vicious creatures in the continental US like badgers and such. Anybody have some home remedy solutions? Any advice appreciated.

Ditto- I have dryer sheets under my hood, one on the glovebox and one in the trunk. I put them in large plastic sandwich bags I've cut holes in. There is no need to take them out when using the car as they are non-toxic unless you hate the smell.

Two things I know of that deters them, you can use peppermint oil in a spray or hot pepper oil in a spray as they do not like either and just spray around the bottom of the engine compartment. Do not get any on the paint or for sure your hands or eyes. It will make them no longer like the car.

I'll bite - I've never heard of using the sheets for much more than getting rid of static.

How do they keep the critters away?

I had a problem with desert pack rats in my truck engine compartment last year. They would bring any thing they could find and build a nest, I would take it out in the morning and then overnite it would build another one, then I saw wires chewed on so I put some moth balls in a piece of womens panty hose, put in top of the engine overnite and seemed to run them off.
