MSD BAP Question

Has anyone installed their MSD Bap under the hood?...I ask because alot easier to run 2 wires to fpcm than a vacuum line the length of the car..... I purchased a used one from a member as was just thinking.... It was for his whipple and im putting it on my eforce....any install tips? Can I run the vacuum t off the d/s port where I get my vac for boost?
Thanks

Brian

Too Far from the battery and fuel pump control module, under the rear seat or on the trunk is best.

I put mine in the trunk by the spare tire as does most Ive seen on here...it is only a shot run of wire to the fuel pump control module and the batt. I also ran my boost line from the back of the maggie to the drivers side firewall where there is access to get in in the cockpit of the car... then back to the trunk...should be about bullet proof like that...

the vacuum line is easy to run. As forplay said go right through the drives side firewall. I think i had my vacuum line installed and all panels back in within 45min to 1 hour.

yep .. I think it was 1/4" hard plastic line I got at my local parts store..I got about 15ft of it and had some left over...better safe than sorry...I also got a T fitting to use for my boost/vacuum gauge off the same line...Im not sure if you have used this type line before but if not make sure your cuts are straight and remember tight is tight..

If you buy the MSD BAP from Vortech, you don't need to run a vacuum line.
They don't use the vacuum portion, just electrical, and it's already programmed.

I can also program them to run with no vacuum line but I prefer to only have it work hard under boost.

I believe this will make it last longer, as it only acts as a voltage stabilizer until it goes in to boost then it jacks the voltage up to 17.5 at 8 psi.

Ted.

What kind of lag time is there transitioning from Vacuum to Boost if you run a line from the front of the car to the back?

Not enough to be concerned

I don't see a reason you couldn't run the BAP under the hood, although i would step up the gauge of the line considerably due to the long run.

For those of you running long runs of vacuum line please be very meticulous in how you do so. If that line fails for whatever reason, you effectively have no BAP. and can very well hurt your motor. I've seen it happen

Lately I've been pushing everybody on twin pumps, I know its a lot more money, but its the right way to do it.
