First time at the track with the Camaro.
Well guys and dolls, I finally got my baby to the track today and wasn't sure what to expect. Have read on this forum so many different times for stock L99's that I had to get to the track and see for myself, granted I am not totally stock anymore as I have the K&N Tyhpoon CAI on there and took the huge premuffler off and installed a Magnaflow truflow Xpipe and have the Pypes "Pypebomb" axle back on her.My first run the car sat and cooled off for 2 hours before I ran just to make sure everything was kinda cooled down, was 1:00, got up to the line, went around the waterbox so as to not get any water on the stock tires, staged up and left the car in sport mode for the first run. I ran 13.06 @ 106.5 AND A 60ft of 2.0, was told by my friend that I spun bad off the line and I felt it and heard it also, at the end before the finish the car shifted into 5th gear and bogged a little. Was fun though.Second run I decided I would run in manual mode and shift myself to see wnat time I could get, I spun real bad off the line again, had a 60ft of 1.99 and ran a 13.4 @ 106.02, I was bummed, went slower..When I started off the line that run I accedentallly hit the upshift button too soon and thought taht was my problem, so I decided to run a 3rd run in manual mode and do it right this time. On the way back up to the line I was challenged by a girl in a 2011 SRT8 challenger who was watching my times, we talked and lined up to run and I just toasted them again off the line, ran a 1.99 60ft again and a 13.5 @ 106, but the god thing is I BEAT the Challenger, she ran a 14.2.. I had fun today and am going back Friday night to try some other stuff to see if I can get this beast off the line decently to gat a 12 out of it, I almost got it on the first run. The second and third run were lat in the day and the line was getting slick as everyone was having problems hooking. Just thought I would share and any helpful tips and comments are welcomed, guess I need some DR's...

Bad track prep sounds like, autos hook pretty good when the track is preped well! Good runs, you have 12s in it for sure.

I went for my second time ever and was pleased with my best time so far (below), although frustrated with my slow reaction time!
From my time slip: Reaction----.9775 60 FT-------1.9467 330 FT------5.3688 1/8 ET------8.1550 1/8 MPH----88.65 1000 ET----NONE 1000 MPH--NONE 1/4 ET-----12.5607 1/4 MPH---111.86 Absolutely gorgeous day; 64 degrees & sunshine... Had alot of fun, learned alot, and saw alot of fast cars at Fayetteville Motorsports Park. |

Yea, everyone was sliding around yesterday. They had a beast of an big blown methanol drag car that usually runs 6's that couldn't get hooked no mAtter what he did, I call bad track conditions, plus it was about 78 degrees and some himidity..

Your car didn't shift into 5th gear. I'd be surprised if it even shifted into 4th. No reason you can't hold third at that speed.
Just for a reference, my car goes through the traps, in 4th, at 6400. And that's at 138 mph and 3.45's. |

Yea, you are correct, the more I thought about the run it couldn't have shifted to 5th, but it did shift to another gear about 50ft from the finish as I felt the car bog just a bit and saw the tach drop about 200 revs..S it probably did get to 4th. I read on here in this section someone posted a comment about trying to keep it from shifting to 4th cause when I ran that run the computer was in control of the shift points as I had it in sport mode, and it starts in second gear and I watched the tach when it shifted from 2nd to 3rd but didn't pay attention to it after that until I felt the dirrerence just before the finish and saw it drop..Next time I'll know..Thanks guys..
