Plus, all it really is is a way to better position and market Chevrolet in NASCAR and find an excuse to import more Holdens into the US. Killing two birds with one stone.
Sure it will be a solid performing car but underwhelming for a halo car.

- the exterior is plain but the interior looks pretty good
- why is the LS3 in this car only putting out 415 HP?
- appears to be auto trans only
- the wheels are really bad

I don't understand the need to import Holden cars. Why can't Chevy develop a sedan off the next CTS platform? That could be their NASCAR entry.

On top of all that, why the hell did they pick SS as the name? That makes no sense at all.

If they used the CTS the car would cost 60K instead of 40-45K

Well a CTS-V starts at $63K....
And that's is what people would want, not a V6 version.

It would still be a knife at a gunfight. The SRT8 is a mid 12s car with the old 5 speed and will have the MUCH better 8 speed auto by the end of the year. The SS on the other hand matches the G8 GXP apparently spec for spec which was a low 13 second car, high 12s at best. by comparison performance versions of the Charger R/T can hit low 13s with the current 5 speed auto. I am very disappointed in the design and specs for an SRT price.

Again, a car designed from the start as a performance sedan vs a family car that's easily made into a performance sedan.

Because Holden needs to export cars in addition to Australian sales.

Because they just finished up the Alpha CTS. Developing an Alpha-based SS would take even more time. The VF Commodore is ready to go.

A ZL1 test car was seen with an automatic. Chevy simply didn't mention the fact before hand. The CTS-V had an auto. It was just common sense the ZL1 would too.

By seen I mean Chevy leaked "spyshots" for publicity the same way every car manufacturer does.

You really think they leak those?

CTS-V also has the LSA and supporting upgrades along with the mag ride shocks. Plus it's a Cadillac.

LS3, standard shocks and a bow tie make it cheaper.

Why the sudden urgency for a RWD sedan?

1) Enthusiasts have been b*tching at GM since Pontiac died about it.
2) NASCAR. The disconnect between the race cars and street cars has been ridiculous. Marketing opportunity for both Chevrolet and NASCAR.
3) Again, export deal for Holden.

Hopefully they flesh it out for 2015. Needs the manual and a more aggressive front end.

That would mean pouring a lot more engineering money into a platform that is going away. The Holden is already finished and just needed a badge change and left hand drive. It was a no brainier really.
