Problem solved.
or spend anywhere from $50-150 to get a basic tune from a tuner... I delete the skip shift and remove the torque management as well as remove potentially annoying codes and the every pesky speed limiter all for $125... if there's any kind of special fuel table caressing to do, that's also included... and most tuners are in the same pricerange for that kind of work

OK, I checked the resistor pack I used. It's 2.2K ohms, denoted by three red stripes. Radio Shack part # 271-1121.

It's a good, cheap fix until you get a custom tune (with that hot cam!) when the stupid skip-shift can be eliminated completely from the programming.

Is "the stupid skip shift" on V6s, too?

Speed Rated Tires Please

You know, with six-speeds, that auto' looks really great in my eyes. If there is any performance disparity between the auto' and stick I think another tune with shift speed, firmness, and pressure along with some Torque Management manipulation will work wonders. It sounds like it works for the G8 boys.
For those of you who would tune out the speed limiter......please for the young of heart and inexperienced, Do Not Use Tires that are Underated for the speed you are travelling. I am not sure if there is authority at the track you are using to check the speed rating of the tires but ultimately it's your call for the safety of your own and those around your vehicle. Although tires are built wiht a safety factor built in they can fail. These babies will do speeds that are awe inspiring but let's do it safely and do it at the track. Same goes for those of us who think we are on the Audubon. Years ago we had to customize muscle cars to get high speeds......now they are factory built.

nope, only on the 6 speed manual equipped V8s. auto transmission SS cars are exempt of it.

Whaddaya mean, "until you get a custom tune"?
I put that resistor in the connector of my '98 SS 10 years ago, and the electrical tape is still holdin' it all together!
I got a few resistors left over too! (they're somewhere in the basement...!)

Best regardSS,

Elie

With the resistor kludge, you still get the "1-4" idiot light on the dash when the skip-shift parameters are met, despite the fact you've disabled the solenoid. At least my goat has the idiot light -- I don't know if the new Camaro does. When you get the custom tune and eliminate the skip-shift programming, the idiot light will never go back on.

Of course it's kind of fun to see the idiot light, and shift into 2nd gear anyway! Take that EPA!

Yes it should be just a resistor to fix it.

Remember, there are no dumb questions.
