Goodbye 2SS IOM

Made the move and got rid of the IOM 2SS. Just bought a 2012 Jetta GLI fully loaded, straight out of the showroom floor. Great deal! Good MPG and cheaper payments. Will be saving quite a bit of money. Gas is just too much! Felt I was working to pay off the gas, since it was my daily driver. Plus the savings will leave room for a motorcycle in a year and more money in my wallet.

I gotta tell ya... I had to hold my breath and walk out. I loved my Camaro and I never got so attached to a car before like I did with my 2SS. I'm going to miss that car. But I had fun and it was time to move on.

Nothing wrong with a VW. I'm a total VW guy. I used to own a 2003 GTI and I still have a 66' and 69' KG.

IMO, you shouldn't have sold the SS though. I would have just bought a motorcycle and commute in that. I'm paying $15 bucks every 4 days....$75 bucks a month and drive my SS on the weekends.

Believe me... I did not want to give it up, but as my wife said; I made a grown up move. My single days are over. It was time to think about extra money in my wallet and a car that can carry stuff around, when i'm not using the bike.
We are planning on getting a Mercedes or 5 series in 6 years, when i retire from the military, so it's only 6 years driving the jetta and I will be back into a high end engine again, and the motorcycle of coarse. In order to get to one place, i have to walk a certain line. If you know what i mean...

This is why I bought a crew cab truck at the same time as I bought the Camaro, To haul the family around. The Camaro is good on gas, the truck not so much. I wouldnt and couldnt trade them for anything, the wife would kill me. I hope you enjoy the VW, nice cars and they run forever. Lets not even mention that they too can be modded to death and made to be pretty dang fast.

Making a change for monetary reasons is always smart, plus you got a great car in the VW (and apparently impressed the wife in the process). Keep in mind that doing this now will head you down a path that will hopefully allow you to have a toy later in life in addition to your DD. It took me 22 years of being frugal and making those responsible decisions, but I finally got there and had the wife's full blessing for the Camaro last spring. Good luck and enjoy the VW!

I owned a 2001 jetta and a 2003 gti. VW's are excellent cars for the money.

I have to be honest Jessika, I'm a little jealous of your TDI!

And I second www.vwvortex.com. That's a great forum.
