What are your best security tips?
I am taking my baby on some over night trips this summer and will need to park her in motel parking lots and parking decks.
What are some of your best tips, besides: good insurance, OnStart, Mustang Cover, etc.. Does anyone pull any fuses that disable the ignition? I know I cant stop a tow truck just want to stop someone from driving her away. Thanks and hope to see some of you at some gatherings. |

Stay away from sketchy motels is one of the best things you can do.

CHECK REVIEWS...I'd suggest hotels...not motels.
P.S...I was just in Canton for a golf tourny...you guys have some sketchy jank ass Econolodge up there..for whatever reason my school booked it for the golf team. We pulled in the parking lot, turned around, went to a Hilton and the team used our money to split rooms because the school wouldn't cover another room... Then we saw on the news the next day that some hooker was murdered in that motel that night...the next day after we told the school that they refunded out cash lol |

Don't park on the ends of a hotel as no windows face the parking lot there. Most of the theft reports I take at hotels/motels are from the ends, even if there are cameras. The cameras only cover the area immediately at the entrance. Don't leave your GPS visible in the car, this includes the suction cup holder on the windshield, plus the charging cards.

When I travel with the Camaro I:
Stay in upscale/better motels. (less riffraff) Park near the entrance or front door. (traffic/cameras) Ask for a room with a view of that area. Hope for the best.

..... I love the perceived value of these cars on this forum...
a $40k car is average by today standards. Most camaros with the exception of the ZL1 fall well below that. Get over yourself ... |

What I've done is....
Get wheel locks
Park in an area that is visable from the rooms at a first rate hotel Park ass end in (more difficult to tow it as the rear wheels will be braked). Use a visable "Club" like device. Pull a fuse or two that disables the engine. Pray... I realize that any of these can be overcome by any halfway good car thief but hopefully they'll think twice, it will slow them down and move along to something else.

To the OP . . . On-Star gives me peace of mind, plus if anyone starts my car I will be able to hear it 200 yards away, LOL. A hidden kill switch would be nice. I dont have one but always wanted it.
