I wasn't talking about replacing the quarterpanel. I was only referring to aftermarket gill dressup kits. I should have been more specific.

Something like that would be sufficient as it would create more of the 3D effect that I was hoping to see on the car. Thanks for the info guys. Appreciate it. Now I have more hope that there will be some kind of an option in the future.

You could make fully functional brake cooling ducts but to do it 'factory style' would mean cutting out the complete shark fin area through to the inner wheel well and insert a molded piece that would cover both holes and flow the air to the rear brake rotors.

Not a very good example of my point but they did something similar with the lower front fenders of the 1972 GTO:
