Got mine optiguard'ed. thats the pro opticoat.

It is definetly worth the money, and as mentioned above, get it professionally done, its a better version, and a good detailer will get the paint to perfection before applying.

Stig, you are in NoVa, ever use or hear anything about "Extreme Detail" in Sterling?

Any idea what this coating costs?

Lots of experience with opticoat here. I have videos where I shoot apc at it straight undiluted, and it rinsed off like nothing happened. Its an awesome product.

Also for the cost of a correction and an application, you could probably get all the supplies yourself... And when you're done you would still have the supplies. I did user ghost 1/le on here with opticoat and I think even he said it was pretty easy.

No, but pretty sure there is a thread about them hosting a detailing clinic in the Midatlantic regional forum.

I've done a couple cars with it. Great product. I agree with ihaveacamaro. For the $400+ if you have any interest in detailing buy all the products and do it yourself.

Chris@Optimum has a video on the method I like the most. What you do is get a little pump sprayer and syringe out the opticoat in there. Then pump the sprayer twice on the applicator to prime it and pump once as needed. It allows for much less waste of opticoat and easier to apply.

just be aware, the Opticoat 2 is only guaranteed for 3 years, where as the Optiguard applied by a pro has a life time guarantee...just something you should think about, they obviously are two different qualities of product....

The guarantee has more to do with the application than the product. They have no way to know how badly Joe Blow applied his, so why would they warranty it for life.

Optiguard is thicker though.

Opti-Coat 2.0 vs Opti-Guard
Previously during its debut, Optimum Coating is only available to professional detailers. And after some years, Optimum Polymer Technologies released a consumer version of the coating named Opti-Coat 2.0, which is much more mistakes tolerance, as it has a longer cure time allowing DIY-ers to have more time to correct the coating for any high spots before it is completely cured. However, the strength and range of application is not that great as compared to the professional version, which now named as Opti- guard.

The Optiguard is thicker and stronger than the Opticoat 2.0, this is from Opticoat's website. Also Opticoat 2.0 will not work on the plastic parts of the car or the vinyl stripes or the windshield as a semi permanent rainX, where Optiguard does something that might be taken into consideration as well. They are definatly two different products.

Opticoat 2.0 is a fine product, just saying that you should consider all aspects when deciding on something like this.
