Well, if it's on the interwebz, THAT makes it true then!
You know those sh*t pot stirring kind of folks that interject some tidbit of "unconfirmed facts" that get people talking? This is one of those cases. The quote exists nowhere else I can find...no confirmed source, so I'm not believing it.

Look buddy I found the quote and thought it would be good to share. I guess I was wrong. I'm not trying to start or STIR anything.

Everyone appreciates you sharing info, after all that's what makes this forum great. But in hindsight, it would have been best to provide a link to where you obtained this quote. While it gives us something to talk about, the source is suspect at best. It's about the equivalent of me randomly quoting a source on our message boards. "The Z28 will be able to out run a ZR1 on the track, while going in reverse, for a starting price of 40k. We want to produce the best performance based production car possible, regardless of screwing over our other performance brands and customers who pay a premium for those vehicles. It will also fly, be amphibious, and shoot missles." - Ed Welburn |

Well, first, my name isn't Buddy. But seriously, I didn't mean YOU. I meant the potential tool that orginally inserted the unsubstantiated quote in that comment where you got it. I apologize if I wasn't clear on that.

There is at least ONE company in our Community that claims, and I believe has shown, their SS will outrun a stock Z06 at a particular track (I can only recall one, if my recollection is correct, lol). That car has more power than I'm sure Z28 would come out with (though I remember some details that might render this comment incorrect, to an extent) but has brakes and chassis upgrades that aren't totally out of this world. It's all stuff we ALL can buy here from many vendors and duplicate ourselves.
Without getting into more details, I think that it's possible, but it still doesn't add up. The price is the biggest factor - even if I bump it near $50K. And it's not that I don't believe GM could make it happen; it's just there's too much keeping them FROM making it happen. It would still be KICK A$$ to see it though. That'd shut-up the serpent drivers out there

I don't think the upcoming Z28 could beat a C5 Z06 on the track.
