Drive Shaft Shop 1,400 hp axles....

I was wondering if anyone else has had any noises coming from their DSS 1,400 hp axles? Since axles were first installed I've had a clank on decel/accel (not the usual drive line noises). Have about 500 miles on them and clanking is getting louder. Shop that installed them has been extremely busy and I haven't been able to get them removed so I can return them to DSS for inspection. Car is putting down less than half the hp axles are rated for. Car hasn't seen any track time. No wheel hop... all key bushing replaced w/ Pedders. No clutch dumps... launch at 2500 rpm on 555R drag radials. Full lift on shifts. Maybe it's a fluke?

The firmer bushings will transmit more drivetrain noise. I would also be looking at the ring and pinnion backlash. The crush sleeve may have yielded.

Bushings done well before putting in axles. If crush sleeve would of yielded, I'm thinking that there would be some whining out of rear. If I push up on axle section nearest the diff, I hear a metallic clank.

MJ try replacing the gear fluid in the diff with some 75-140 Royal Purple. We had a few cars where we did gears that made noise and switching to this fluid made everything much smoother.

We are doing a DSS axle install on Friday as well.

The shop I've been going to has been tied up for over a month now. I'm thinking of setting up an appt at Ted's... he's located further away, but the clanking is getting worse and I need to get this figured out before it starts snowing around here.
