While I don't think this is real, I will say that if it was, I think almost anyone would look inside because when they pulled it off they would feel something loose inside. And curiosity would lead most to finding out what.

So a good reason to report found money is the below...

you keep the money and go to spend it or put it in the bank, they discover its counterfeit, you didnt know, because its done so well and your just a normal Joe, then your stuck trying to tell the secret service how its not yours, you found it in your car......imagine how hard that sell would be at that point

no parole in fed lockup buddy...........

You bought the trunk and everything inside is yours. Same with the car IMO.
I agree with you on the auction analogy. The point I was trying to make is this: Say you and your family live in a drug infested neighborhood also known for its violence and high murder rate. Let's say you witnessed a homicide and the police ask you what you saw. What are you going to tell them? If you say anything other than "I didn't see or hear anything," you and your family are as good as dead.

So, if this car was involved in a drug related crime and someone hid money in it, then someone IS going to come looking for it. Of course, I don't know why the car was impounded. Maybe it had nothing to do with drugs. But when you have a wife and two children, their safety is of utmost concern.

Even if this were legit, K-9's are not trained to alert to cash... at least not here.

Heres another reason not to take it and report it....the police mentioned tracking devices, that the thugs may of put one on the car and were going to look for it later....imagine what they would have to say if they find it in your drive minus the money?

on a side note, you think budget just resold the minivan? I hate it for those owners if the thugs showed up, they really wouldnt know whats going on....
