Fuse Pull in California..91 Pump Gas...Now Slower??

So I've read many post on the Fuse pull and something else I've read is that GM recommends 93 octane or higher. In CA we only have 91 and doing the fuse pull with 91 in the tank MAY put the car in a lower map if the car was shipped with 93.

I did the fuse pull on my 2013 ZL1 with 1500 miles on it and swear it feels slower. I don't feel that is has the pull it used to on the freeway or top of the gears.

So, if its true that 91 octane can possibly be effecting this, i might not be just imagining this.

I found a table on 76 Gas Stations that show mixture ratios. I have a 76 close that sells 100 octane. It says if i mix 5 gal of 100 with 10 gal of 91 the octane results will be about 94.

Im going to try this, then drive home and do the fuse pull and see what happens.

Anyone else have any input on this?

Thanks

why not just wait, do 100 octane, and see if there is a definite change at all??
go big or go home

Never know you had to do a fuse pull on a zl1 too. Is it auto or manual.

There are many threads on the "fuse pull". I tried it with my car and couldn't tell any difference.

A person on this site, a GM technician showed the schematics of the fuse pull and showed it to be worthless. I concur, both by looking at the electrical routing and trying the fuse pull, which again, did nothing.

Never heard of it on a ZL1 either...OP, I'd go to the zl1 forums if I were you...the 5-20 fuses might not even be the same...dunno...good luck.

There was a very long thread on the ZL1 forum about this, everyone was saying that they did it an felt a difference. That said, they were all NOT located in California. Then one user commented on the 91 gas in CA and that it would set the car in the lower octane table. A response showed an insert from the GM Service book that said if the car is in the lower octane table, pull the fuses 5 and 20 to reset the ECM and then tell the customer to use 93 or higher gas.

The thread later said that gas below 93 octane can put the car in a lower octane table which has less timing thus limiting the power a bit.

So my thought was to up the octane with 100 and then due the fuse pull again.

Im going to try it and see what happens. Dont get me wrong, the car is still very fast, maybe I'm just getting used to the power or maybe there is actually something going on with the ECM.

I know a few ZL1 guys...never heard them "complain" about 91...The fuse pull thing still has a lot of variables...for how long, only do it after second tank of hi-octane, etc...good luck again..

Pretty sure it applies to both L99 and LS3

I tried the fuse pull 4 times over the 10 months I've owned my car. I never felt any change in power. The first couple of times I questioned whether or not I used all the suspected 87 octane. But all 4 times I filled up with 93 octane. I never went down to anything less than a half of a tank before I refilled with 93. But after 10 months I give up. This myth is busted.

And yes I pulled 5 and 20 and let it sit overnight.
