6th vs 5th gen test drive - The Fast Lane Car
Not the best driver, but it shows a good back to back drive of the 5th vs 6th gen. |

Before someone thinks there will be an option for glow in the dark looking trim pieces, those are probably 3D printed plastic.

He makes such a big deal about 200lbs weight difference. It's not that big of a difference. It's like the difference between having someone in the passenger seat, or having it empty.
Don't get me wrong, I like the 6th Gen, I just think this weight stuff is being overplayed. I'm actually getting sick of hearing about it. 200lbs is not a huge loss.

I guess the point I was trying to make is, there are like 1000 new, cool things about the new Camaro, but the only thing he seems to mention is the 200lbs.

Look at the rear seatback move forward at 5:50. Are these going to fold down for a pass-thru I wonder? I hope they fix the latch, but this is just a pre-production car anyway.

But then what if you have a passenger and they don't ? Your instantly up 400 lbs and down on power. It will be UGLY.Best you can do is hope they have one and you don't. So you will then be even... But down 30 hp if you have an ls3 and down 55 if u got an auto.
And I agree I can tell a difference every time I have a decent size person in the car. 200lbs is the point at which it really becomes noticeable in my opinion. And good god when I had my 5th loaded with people... Even at 505rwhp... It almost felt like it was back to stock lol |

Do you even lift, bro?

Agreed. Picture FOUR 45lb plates from the gym AND maybe a 25lb plate stacked up in your trunk as you drive and tell me you cant feel a difference.

the 200lbs weight loss is HUGE if you're into performance, which is what the camaro is all about at its core.
btw those v6s sound amazing. |

I think it is about expectations. I could feel a 200lbs difference but it is not like stepping out of a 3900lb camaro and into a 2300lb Mazda Miata. However, take 200lbs lighter, 30 more hp and 35lb more torque, plus a faster auto 8 speed auto and together it should make for a better performing car. It is pretty amazing if you think about it, the 6th gen camaro SS will basically perform on par with a c6 corvette. Probably 0-60 in about 4.0 flat, low 12s in the quarter and handle as good if not better than the current 1LE. Gotta love it.

I kinda did a face palm @ 3:25 when a "V6 Corvette" was mentioned, but I realized what was meant. Good video, but I'd be more interested in seeing a 2015 SS versus a 2016 SS versus a 2015 Z/28. Those are the cars people will likely be taking to track days.
