FIRST EVER ZL1 WITH KW VARIANT 3
Whats up fellas, so i have owned my zl1 for 3 months now and love it. But that car needs a drop badly. I know there are spring kits out there but its just not enough. I know alot of guy swear by the mrc but I know there are better suspensions out there.I do like to track my cars and i also like my car my cars to look on point. I decided to call KW to see if they make a kit for the ZL1, but sadly they can not verfiy fitment at the moment. So i called up Richardo@Phastek and had a nice discussion about the zl1 and my suspension choices. Since they have done a few ss with mrc and drop springs on the zl1, he didnt see why it would not fit. Knowing that i will be the first to put coilovers on a ZL1, i decided to go for it and of course it fits. Install is pretty straight forward. I did break a sensor bracket, which i have to find out part number. Just finished install and drove for about 50 miles and everything seems legit. More pics to follow in the up coming days. Wait for springs to settle then corner balace with alignment.

Let's see some pictures of the car how it sits.
I don't suppose you did any analysis on the damper stroke regarding droop and compression? KW often emulates OEM spring rates and stroke lengths centered at a lower ride height. Any idea if that continues with this Camaro SS-intended part number?

Yes sir, i was not a fan of the mrc. Tracked my buddies cts-v for a while and didnt care for it. For its intened purpose ( street, highway, and track) it is great but i wanted a more track set up.

where did you find these? Every time i find a KW coilover for the 6th gen its the same part number as the 5th gen kit... unless it really is the same part..

I'll probably end up with DSSV once the 1LE stuff is out there. I really like the adjustable camber and also ride height adjustment not to mention the wider tires that can go on it. How much extra room did you end up with these?
Time for some 325s out back?? |

Mlee I was going to wait as well but just decided to pull the trigger. I like like the rebound and dampener adjustment. I am going to so some test fit for 325s in a few weeks. Theses are about 1 inch slimer that stock strut in the rear.

FYI, I have been tracking with 325s in the rear but on 19" wheels. I like the additional grip in the rear and believe it should be even more beneficial on a ZL1 with the additional weight and power

That's good to hear I am also planning to get the DSSVs when they're out and was about to create a new thread to see if there's any simulators out there. I wonder if they sell the simulator only
What made you switch to coilovers? Just curious

Well its been about 4 months with the kw v3 and no lights on the dash at all. I have done 3 track days and these are way better than the mrc.
