People who purchase these cars now will not be in the market for a camaro when/if it comes out.

What were they thinking.
The Charger is for a different set of people. 4 doors, much heavier. More of a family car. The Challenger will be a high-price, limited production car that won't see nearly as many sales as the Mustang and Camaro. And back in the 60's, it took the Camaro 3 1/2 years to come to market after the Mustang. Took the Challenger 5 1/2. The Muscle Car Wars didn't heat up until the late 60s, I think that's what we're gonna see in the next few years.

GM did this on purpose. Now that the Challenger and the Mustang will be out, GM will know what they are competing w/. That way, they can assure more hp than all the other automakers. It'll be a good thing.

To answer the thread question...

Because GM is building this one right. It can not and will not fail.

Question Shut up!

Well they should have released there want to build it in 2008 instead of telling us know but it does release alot of pressure.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder... We have waited this long.. Why throw it out there among the Mustang or Challenger, let them have thier thrown out version (neither look like the concept)... Chevy is an American Icon (not to mention better engines) I will wait for my Chevy.. While they drive in the somewhat version of what used to be, I will have something better to blow it away...

You know what I want, way retro past the muscle cars, why doesn't Chevy so back to the star, the 57.....As my grandfather said, "I know there is a 57 Chevy up there waiting"

Amen. Because for some of us, the release will be right on time. Besides, I don't care how the sales numbers go, I will have one! Whether they sell 100K or 100! I WILL OWN 1!!!!!!!

GM, take as long long as you like, just do it right!

I think what Wiess was trying to say was:

Well they should have announced their plans to build it in 2008 rather than letting us know so early. However, it does release a lot of pressure knowing that it's coming.

Or something like that.

I see...but they have to release the info on it going into production early so those who are interested can start saving in their piggy banks. Had this not have come out, and I didn't like the 4th Gen so much, I would have purchased a new car (prolly an Infiniti). GM was wise in it's actions...from display at NAIAS, to the announcement of building it...so the vert the following year...then the release of Tformers giving us teasers. I think the next step will be a release of the production model.

I agree 100%

Plus, how many people are still just now learning about the car? I'd wager that 80% of the people who will eventually purchase a 5th gen still don't even know that it's coming.

Those of us that do know about this car and are being put through hell with all the waiting are still going to buy the car. That decision was made for us long, long ago at some earlier point in our lives: that first time we heard the word spoken, "Camaro".
