Warranty help!!

Apparently this is a common question, but i bought a 2011 Camaro SS about a month ago. I am tired of not being able to hear my car and think it is about time to put some better pipes on her. I have heard many different things like you can have axle back, or cat back. i have also heard that you must have your dealership install all parts and they must be SLP brand of exhaust.

I am doing a CAI Cold Air and Corsa Exhaust on my 2011 SS. I think as long as there is no engine tune involved there is no warranty issues.

anything behind the cats is fine. any cold air intake that doesnt throw a code is fine. like the other guy said, dont tune it if you want to keep your drive train warranty.
if you just want to hear it, throw on some axle back straight pipes and a vararam no tune cold air intake.

Cut the mufflers off, replace with straight pipes, save A LOT of money, and sound better than virually every axle-back on the market!!!!

This comes from the GM customer service guy here on the forum.

This!

Become familiar with this if you ever make a warranty claim and are denied! Stealerships do not know how to deal with well-informed customers.

Quick crash lesson in warranty:

If you change out a said part for an aftermarket it is not covered by warranty...For example, if you put a CATBACK exhaust on then from the CATBACK you warranty is not there for that said part...

If you change out your CAI then your Airbox is not covered..Although, you can very easily swap these in and out......

That said, it is on the DEALERSHIP aka STEALERSHIP to prove whatever you changed on the car is what caused said damage.

Now, if you choose to "Tune" your vehicle all bets are off..The dealership can deny any warranty work and GM will back them if it is in regards to your powertrain.....

They can tell when it is tuned, they can tell if you've attempted or have flashed it back to stock....

Kinda like a mean Santa Claus

Again-Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

When regarding warranty work, read it and know your rights!

Good luck

Dealerships are different, yes, but the law is the same everywhere regarding warranty denials. See the above post... Which by the way, a muffler delete sounds wayyyyy better, hint hint!
