Answer is that it is doubtful he can beat the turbo'd V6 without doing a mod that has more potential of voiding the warranty than say intake and exhaust. Sure he could do other small mods to help, or go outside the box and do weight savings which would help.

Thats the answer....period.

As for where this topic has ventured into. Everyone with half a brain knows the V8 has more/easier potential to go faster. What we also know (whether some people here choose to accept it) is that by spending 6 to 7K on FI for a V6, you can have a V6 that runs with fairly modded V8s for LESS cost.

Thanks for the support, but I was really NOT trying to fight. I just don't want folks that don't have any experience with the V6s to spread false information. The LLT is a b1tch because of the ECU, but they can make quite a bit of power despite that. The LFX is even easier. Now that we have some real mods for it I think we are going to see a lot of them getting boosted.

BTW, McDoogle6969's build is pretty impressive. I've watched it for a while. I may disagree with his assessment of the V6, but I really love what he's done and is doing with that car.

Definition of racing a car= I am willing to set it on fire and kick it off a cliff to "WIN" ......I just had to point that out as a known

Did anyone find out if he's on the forum? He's probably reading this, snickering.

One could find out by looking for californians or unknown location folks in the v6 turbo forum. But I'm not going to do it. For that is the creepy.

Uhh....I'd give him a good shot at beating me with my last build, but I'm shooting for the stars this year.

Wow... the short answer for the OP as I see it is mod the V8. Or enjoy looking at the V6's tailights.

I am new here but this thread has me entertained and perplexed at the same time.

Is there really anyone who believes, all things being as equal as possible, that the V8 won't take the V6 in a race? But enthusiasts mod, and that changes things. In any case, I am not really sure what the debate is about here...

I have a V6. Personally, at first, I would have rather had the V8 but:
  1. It would have been a stretch at this point to afford it. To get the V8 the cash has to be paid up-front. I can add to the V6 as I have the cash.
  2. I have had a number of V8 muscle cars, and you know what? I didn't like paying the fuel bill or the insurance. As much fun as the V8's were, the V6 made more sense financially.
  3. I plan on supercharging the V6 and there is something satisfying to me (YMMV) about doing the research and seeing it go in the car. Same with other mods.
  4. This car has the added fun factor of rolling up beside a stock V8 and surprising him/her. I am keeping the car clean but as understated visually as possible. New wheels, tires etc. but no scoops or cowl hoods etc.

Now, a shameless picture of Carmen:

Welcome!

There have been a lot of V6 vs. V8 threads. A handful of people want to keep talking about it or turn a thread into a V6/V8 one when it doesn't need to be. All saying the same thing. This thread is an example.

But no biggie. Enjoy the forum!
