Glad you are one of the exceptions as stated by another poster. When and if you have raised 4 sons to adulthood and gone through all the things parents do you may understand. Perhaps think about lending your car out to a cousin or another relative when it is thier prom night and it may give you a different perspective. It is not just the car it is the persons in the car and all the other things that come in to play if younger people who may not be thinking right a the time make a bad decision. Then it is too late for shoulda and couldas. My answer is still no and would have been no to any of my four sons who are now 21 plus years in age.

After reading this I asked my daughter who is a senior in high school if she would want to drive mine to a school function like Homecoming...she said she would just worry about it all night and not have any fun but would happily take the limo if offered.

BTW my answer would be no.

On another note, I'm surprised no father here has said "of course you can drive the Camaro to prom, kids, don't mind me, I'll be in the back seat with the latest copy of "guns n ammo", cleaning my glock while you kids have fun!"
Just because we did not say it or write it does not mean we did not think it. Besides I always found it much more appealing (to me at least) to rappel down in S.W.A.T. gear behind the date while he was waiting for the front door to open and rack a shorty shotgun. I always loved the yellow puddle in between his feet after I tell them that I can find them at anytime, no matter where they hide. Neither of my daughters seemed to like this very much though, I don't know why? But they were never late coming home from a date.

Sounds like many people in here were either
1) Irresponsible while growing up.

or

2) Have very irresponsible children that they can't trust.

Headline sounds like your daughter and your boyfriend is using your Camaro to go to their homecoming. I vote "NO" unless you're invited.

You know, if it were just for one night, and I was an old man with a decent amount of money to cover realistically what might go wrong (ONLY if I trust the kid enough to not screw around for one important night) . . . I'd say "yes".

Then again, I'm not a dad; I'm a 26 year old who remembers what it was to be there, and asking my dad for HIS coveted car for one night, being responsible with it, and returning it unscathed.

Some of you really need to understand..THIS IS A CAR
A CAR STILL IN PRODUCTION SO YOU CAN GET ANOTHER
I mean seriously
the only thing i would worry about is if my son/daughter got hurt
the car will always be replaceable...its just money
sure i may not have gobs of money but come on....
If its that much of a trophy then put it in a hermetically sealed container
