Correlation between first year 1LE and ZL1?

Do you think GM purposely limited the production of the 2013 1LE (1,826 cars made) and 2012 ZL1 (1,971 cars made) to under 2000 units for a reason?

It seems like they are building alot more 1LE's for 2014 similar to them building a lot more ZL1's in 2013.

Then you have the Z28 at 500 units for 2014 and 1500 units for 2015. I see a pattern here.

It's also cool to say my 2013 1LE is more rare than a 2012 ZL1.

GM does not intentionally limit orders unless otherwise stated. They will sell to whomever will buy.

1LE/ZL1 didnt have any restrictions, the low number of 2013 1LE's is due to the fact that no one knew what it was. There will be a shit ton of 2014's.

The Z/28 is a low production car to keep the collector value up in the long run.

GM has already put out ATLEAST 2500 Z28s for 2015 and they will produce whatever is demanded past that....

First year numbers are probably about getting them out the door. The limit helps the get the kinks out as the line goes hot and makes some buzz.

I agree the second year they'll make as many as needed.

Like previously stated, there were not limits in place. Those are the numbers that were ordered

The 1LE is a track car....it's not for every one. I'd assume that there will be around 2000 of each car....the ZL1, Z28 and 1LE. There will be 7 million V6s.

Only thing that is limited and rare is the 2014 Z/28. While it may be cool to say yours is more rare than a 2012 ZL1, your still behind him at every finishline.

Wait you mean a ZL1 with 580 hp is faster than a stock LS3?? No way! Thank you for the enlightenment.

No one new what the 1LE was & could do in 2013 , The dealers did not know how to order them , People though the track times the 1LEs were posting were BS so waited to see what the car could really do. GM only makes the car in the first & last part of the model run because of the tires. You add that all up and that why you get a low first year run. The word is out now on the 1LE so the number are going to go up.

Ordered or available?

Or is that the same thing for GM i.e. can't order unless there is availability.

To cut through the semantics, my point was albeit perhaps not phrased completely correctly, is that there is limited availability that first year while they get the line up.

Are you saying that isn't the case for some of these models? z28 aside I guess which was capped at 500 for 2014?

The dealer can't order a 1LE/ZL1 unless they have an allocation correct? GM decides what dealers to give allocations to.

Also constraints will limit production. (Like the 3 months when they stopped production due to the tires.)

So GM might not come out and say they are limiting production on a certain model, but they are in control at all times.

Bingo. So number ordered irrelevant - if you limit orders you in effect limit production.

my 1LE was built in feb of last year, but I didnt buy her till July. As much as I find it hard to believe she sat on the lot for a few months, I am glad no one else got her! By the time hub caved to let me trade in my 2LT, 1LE's were becoming scarce.
