Viper remote start

Went to get a remote starter/ alarm installed today and the installer called me about 3 hours after I dropped off my car telling me that the new camaros cant have remote starters installed because of something in the computer that viper has to make a new flash program. I'm no techy but I think he is full of sh*t.... Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah sounds like he may not have the correct parts, or the ability to program it. They are definitely doable.

I installed a compustar alarm start on my 2010 2ss m6 and it went in great, I have been installing remote starters and alarms for over 12 years. From the sounds of it I would be happy that this guy couldn't do it I wouldn't want him working on my car.

At least he said he couldn't do it, even if he danced around the wording. Thank him, get your money back, and go to another installer. You'll probably end up paying more, but it's going to be worth it in the end. I just hope they didn't make a mess of your wiring.

Yeppers, mine works great. I have the 5901. And in fact even if you have a manual tranny you can use it. You just have to get the clutch bypass installed.

What your installer might be referring to, is there was a new ignition system in the 2011 since the 2010s. You installer needs to contact DEI or you can contact my installer his name is Jeff
(308) 234-6425

Tell them you got the number from Nate Stephens, then he will be super cool to you. He can probably order the part for you or tell you the part number you need and you can give it to your installer.

Hope this helps you out.

If you are doing a viper tell the installer you need a DBALL module, I did it on my car, and it works flawlessly.

Also a cool thing is that you can control the viper alarm with the factory fob so if you didnt want to carry around another remote you dont have to.

Last these are about the EASIEST alarms and remote starts that I have ever installed and I am been in car audio for 10 years

Viper 5901 Car Alarm/Remote Start

This is the one I use works very well with the manual transmission, set up so that you haveto do a specific shutdown or it will not start remotely,
